Great phone if live in city area

This is a fantastic phone with great features; however the reception is weaker than most phones. It does not work as well as an iphone or other androids when a ways out of a highly populated area. If you live between cities or towers it will not give you the best of reception. when my daughter's iphone gets almost full bars I may get only one or none. But if you live in a good reception area it is one awesome phone with one of the biggest and brightest screen displays out there.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: weak reception
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great in populated or city areas

Has weak reception especially not in a city or highly populated area. My daughter's i-phone gets twice the reception as this phone. Great reception in a city area but no so much in rural or suburban areas. Fantastic screen, sound, and picture. Great features. Love the extra large screen size.

Cons: Did not meet expectations, weak reception

Everything I need.......

My Captivate has proven to be a great asset. During periods of time when I don't have my PC or in some cases when I do, I check emails, the stock market, my portfolio and events on my calendar via my Captivate. The only things I had to learn... Swype (which is great) and cycle the power every day. My non gmail account does not always update/stay connected overnight, turning the Captivate off and back on solved that problem.
When I upgrade my mobile device, it will be an S II.
Pros: Durable, reliable

Easy to use, simply the best in comparison to other brands of smartphones. I am using my second Samsung Smart Phone and I'll never buy anything else.

Good Phone poor maintenance

The phone is good and functional, but neither Samsung or the Carrier keep the software updated. This phone's OS, Andriod 2.2 has significant problems that require it to be upgraded, which is the only, but major criticism of the Andriod platform.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: poor maintenance upgrade the os
