For the most part this is a very good phone. I enjoy using it. The battery life could be better and it sometimes freezes up, but it usually works well for my needs
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: blue tooth not backward compatible

I on my second captivate in a year. maybe its because i use it al day but the battery doesn't last log and it force closes a little to often. but the "new" one i received is much better. will only buy samsung phones
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: battery

Sub-par phone, not impressed

I "upgraded" from an iPhone last Thanksgiving because I wanted Android. However, I am now on my 3rd replacement phone since that time. That's 3 phones in 10 months! The first one lasted about 4 months, but began to randomly shut off on me. The next one about 3 months, but developed an odd problem of every time I powered up the phone, it would make this loud alarm sound (that was not a ringtone on the phone), that would not stop. I finally figured out that by pulling down the status bar, it would stop. Why that was a solution, I don't know. And so far I'm at 3 months on the phone I actually have in my pocket. And I cannot wait to upgrade in a few months to get something different.
Battery life is abysmal, I barely make it through the day. And I'm at the office, not using it all that much.
Camera is barely par, and does not have a flash, so trying to take a picture in low light is an exercise in futility. No front-facing camera.
I will say, the screen is big and beautiful. Definitely like the AMOLED screen.
No OTA updates, so you have to hook up to your PC to get updates. Don't like that. And new OS's take painfully long to get released.
Overall, not at all impressed in the phone, can't wait to get something different.

Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, poor battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great phone

My only complaint is being unable to shut off the 3G service to the phone. I don't like the unexpected downloads for updates etc.

The features the galaxy s phone has are incredible. I love the transition from screen to screen is smooth. The features seems unlimited and I just keep finding new things this phone has to offer.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, features
Cons: ring vibration

Great- with "issues"

I have one of the first build phones and have read numerous reviews that the issues I'm having are common for these phones... shutting off without reason and camera freezing..
Today, I called my husband and couldn't hear the phone ringing.. I saw that the phone had been answered but I could not hear him... I texted him and he said that he could hear me...
I did a system restore, hoping that would fix the issue... not only did it not fix the issue, I lost EVERYTHING that I'd backed up to my SD and SIM card :( A very unhappy camper at present.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight, great apps available, speach to text available, possible to back up to email
Cons: keyboard is too small, not possible to back everything up to email, sim card does not save all details

This product is very good but it is very unfortunate that there us no support and update available at any site so far for this device which can lead to decrease in popularity of this product. So I would suggest Samsung to please provide software updates as NOKIA is providing to their customers through web to update their devices and use the latest features.
