Great features:
Apps available to do almost anything;
Tutorials (from Samsung) provided ideas and applications that really improved my idea of what could be done with the phone.
Voice to text feature is easy to use with Calendar and Contacts

Cons:
Voice to text feature needs minor upgrade to become more accurate;
Updating the operating system by AT&T is very slow and they are not very helpful.

This is probably one of my favorite phones of all time. I switched from an iPhone to and Android and I don't see myself ever going back. The screen is beautiful, the speed is great, and the OS allows you to completely customize what you want without rooting or jailbreaking. My only issue is with the slowness of updates. It seems as if it takes much longer to get an update for this phone than any of the other phones on the market.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color
Cons: slow to update the os

THIS PHONE BLOWS THE IPHONE AWAY. IT IS USER FRIENDLY AND HAS SO MANY THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH IT. if you are a business person or couch potato this phone is for you. My daughter is 10 and knows more about the phone than i do. The possibilities are Endless

I bought this phone in July of this year, of course. I had been looking at it for awhile, and saved up for it. The features it has are amazing as well as the value and design of the phone. Performance takes its overall value WAY down though. My phone ALWAYS freezes up,speakers are low i never hear my phone ring, and the internet barely ever works i can have all my bars and it still wont access the internet it will act like it is going to attempt to do something and just stay there. Not to mention i have not ever dropped my phone so i couldnt of messed it up internally, i really wish this phone would work the way its suppose to it would be awesome.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations, speakers are low, internet never works, freezes a lot
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Overall, this phone has been amazing. The display is my absolute favorite part of the phone. The colors are so real and the screen size is perfect. However, this is my second Captivate. My first one would randomly shut off, and when I trusted it for an alarm clock so I had to get another and it's been great ever since!

I have had the Captivate for about 6 weeks now. I had used the iphone 3gs and 4 for the last couple of years. I love the screen of the captivate it is really great. I am a bit disappointed in some of the other features. The wifi sometimes connects right up to my home network and sometimes it will disconnect and refuse to reconnect. So then I go through all kinds of steps such as resetting my router, powering down and back up, forgetting the network and reentering password, using static add. and not using static and so on. Sometimes this will take me an hour to get connected. Not very happy about that. I also don't like having to tap and tap harder on the bottom home row of keys to get them to work. I don't think I get the call quality of the iphone 4. The battery life is about on a par with the iphone 3gs.The gps is really poor compared the the iphones as well. It takes forever to connect if at all. I really want to like this phone more than I do. There are lots of great apps. The feel especially when using a thin cover is really nice. I like being able to remove the sd card and load music etc on it and then put it back in the phone. No more need to be locked into itunes. There are so many great phones out there that there is no reason to have to deal with the wifi and gps issues which seem to plague this phone as per many forums dealing with these two issues. I have a smart phone for the wifi and gps and sometimes can't use either on the Captivate.

This model is one of the best. I have owned many Samsung phones, this one so far surpasses all the other ones.
