i like it a lot but sometimes it could be really slow.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: slow

I have always been a Samsung advocate. Up to this point I have enjoyed all products and most have lasted well past their 'due date'.
The Samsung Galaxy Captivate is the unfortunate black sheep.
Yes, the display is fantastic, the resolution makes pictures and video pop out. The applications and market are good too.
My biggest complaint is the battery life. On a fully charged battery with minimal usage (5minutes on the phone, maybe 5-10 texts), the battery will not last a day on standby. As an on-call pilot, I need to be in touch with my airline at all times while on duty. If I miss a call, I don't get paid. Even if I am flying all day and the phone is on airplane and standby mode, the battery will drain leaving me only a minimal charge when I land.
Also, the phone crashes. Often. Especially when opening the phone application, it freezes with a black screen to the point where I have to reboot the phone.
Last con for me is the wifi antenna and browser. I can be standing right beside my router and still only have 3/5 bars. I go to another room it goes to 1/5. Because of the weak antenna the browser often times out and does cannot open web pages.
I do have a few other cons but I will just be nit-picking if I mention them.
In summary, I am very disappointed in this phone and would not recommend it. I hope the new captivate 2 fixes these things. Now a little gun shy, I doubt I will give it a chance.

great phone except for the fact that u can't use downloaded ringtones as your text message notification tone. the notification tones that are already on the phone are not very loud even with the volume turned all the way up

the captivate is a very good phone touch is good and color but i like about it the most is it large amount of memory storage.other phones only have 8gb of memory but captivate have 16 and can be expandable to 32gb so memory is ten star.the speed was good when i first brought it but after time geting new apps.because i have 132 apps and it can get slow sometimes and auto restart it woulda been great if it had 2ghz or higher and a higher ram. am running on 2.2 right now .and the taskmanagers on the market and come with 2.2 arent totaly accurate so like put a new taskmanager in the samsung phone apps and media editing.but make all the previous galaxys phones and give them a upgrade from all the reviews people posted about them and make perfect phones like with the captivate put a front camera and a faster processor that woulda been a perfect phone because every thing else is good
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, internal sd memory 16 average is 8gb
Cons: when u have a lot of apps it in tend to slowdown, pay for all the samsung apps, can use more fronts

I have had samsung in the past never had an issue just wanted to finally upgrade from a black jack

I went from a Blackjack to being Captive.. I love it easy to learn to use easy to read. "its the bomb"

Lot of potential but released too soon in US

This phone has a number of good features but I feel it was released too soon in the US. Mine had to be replaced after about 4 months because it kept shutting itself off whenever it wanted to. It seems like it took forever to get the release to the 2.2 firmware and I am still waiting for the latest upgrade which has yet to become available the last time I checked (about a week ago). It would be nice if the camera had a built in flash but the camera does take good pictures. I have 2 main complaints that may or may not bother others but they bother me. I was under the impression that I could directly synchronize my contacts and calendar between the phone and MS Outlook. Apparently if you live in the US, Samsung does not support their own Kies software that permits you to do that. That is one reason I felt the phone was released too soon in the US. It would seem to me that either the sofware works or it doesn't. The other reason, which might be a service provider restriction, is applications must be acquired throught the Android Market or the installation is blocked. I was new to the smart phones but I am finding out more and more as I go along.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, swype texting
Cons: Did not meet expectations, kies software not in us
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I really love my captivate..!!

My captivate was recommended to me by my sister-in-law. Although I wasn't sure if I made the right decision, when I first used it, I said to myself, "Well, it's a good start." I said that since I didn't have a hard time figuring out how to use it..!! :)
The phone is easy to use and easy to browse through the menu.. It has great resolution and quick in browsing through the web.. What really amazed me was the quality of the pictures and videos it took..!! It far exceeded my expectations.. :)
One thing that I truly love about this phone is that my 3 month old baby loves it too..!! She loves to watch some kiddie videos streamed through it because of great video quality and bright colors.. :)

Captivate has some gret features

The captivate has great features but there is one that is left out is voice dialing and voice commands.
