overall a really nice phone

Picture is great, 720p video, plenty of apps, 7 home screens, able to group apps in folders, widgets are nice and navigation buttons are intuitive, 4" screen is perfect (any bigger would be too big and smaller would be too small), easily copy files to pc for backup via the usb cable. also pretty nifty that samsung bothered to put a sliding cover to the usb port to minimize dust from pockets. as for the shape, i'm glad they didn't go with a plain rectangular shape like so many other phones.
however, it's not perfect like any product and you'll just have to try to overlook the flaws if they're not deal breakers. the micro usb is loose fitting and doesn't stay in very good. i think it might be due to the cable though. an aftermarket charger that i bought seems to stay in better. still, i wish there was a locking mechanism to keep it in place. pictures and vids do not come out very good in dim lighting. buttons at the bottom sometimes do not work if you don't press it just right (this is problematic especially if you have a case around your phone). build quality is good but would be nice to add a little more metal and weight to it. feels a little cheap in that aspect. as for performance, it's a little sluggish at times and will hang (especially at boot up) too long before doing the next task that you want it to do.
Overall, i think this phone is great. i really like it.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, records in 720p
Cons: micro usb cable slips out easily, a little on the light side, no front facing camera

this phone is awsome i bought itt last year september and loved it eversince. the only thing is that you used to be able to use any song on your phone as a ringtone but at least as of today i now have access to media hub (!!FINALLY!!) so far im loving the new features with froyo like the voice comands and new styles, so yeah....great phone

Cons: Too big

2.2 Update has arrived!!!!!

Finally my Samsung Capitivate is working like it should after 3 replacements!!! I have had all of the uncommon issues that were necessities of the phone...no email notifications regardless of settings, duplicate text notifications, grouping removed in contacts, unable to view previous text messages, issues receiving and making calls, etc. By the 2nd replacement I was ready for a completely different phone. Of course it wasn't that easy to get out of unless I downgraded my phone. My 3rd replacement finally worked like the phone should and even better, yesterday the 2.2 update became available. FYI, if you are having trouble getting Kies to recognize your phone, download it again from the website. Make sure you have a full charge before upgrading. From what I have explored, the battery life is SO much better. Previously my battery lasted about 6 hours before needing to be recharged with the task manager autokilling applications. 12 hours later I still had more than half of my battery life left. There is also an added widget that tells you how many applications you have running. Media Hub even works now! It would have been 5 stars if I didn't have to go through all that trouble.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, personalization
Cons: delay in updates

This phone is so cool. I love the swype texting. Its so easy to text. The app availability is great and it can do everything. I almost got an i phone, but thank god I didn't. I almost got a blackberry like my wife has also, but this is so much better.
