This phone is just really awesome. Downloaded Neocore and compared it to friend's "Clearly superior phones" Funny watching them get blown out of the water. The style is very nice too. It looks extremely elegant and the back cover design is genius. Other phone battery covers should come off like this one.
Some say the future isn't what it used to be. I was in that camp. I'm both an innovator and a techno-sceptic. I grab and then hold on to technology until dragged kicking and screaming to the next level. I had the very first cell bag phone AT&T marketed (the salesman came to my home!). Since then, when I've taken my cell phones in to a store to shop replacements, the teen/20 somethings always exclaim "I've never seen a cell phone like that!" Anyways, I went from an ordinary cell phone to the Captivate, and I am in fact captivated. Cell phone reception and call quality is great. The screen is a joy to my tired eyeballs. Only had the phone for 5 days so I'm just learning my way around the apps and features. So far everything works. I used the web site to set up an appointment for Samsung tech support to call back and help with syncing my corporate Outlook exchange email with the Captivate. I set the appointment for 2 minutes in the future and by all the saints in heaven they called on the dot. The tech was in Texas, knew what he was doing & got me up and in sync with email flowing like a gusher to my phone (I've scaled it back to avoid boosting AT&T's stock price too much). Connected to my home wireless network in a snap. Browsing is a bit tricky for me due to different, simplified interface & learning how to best move around the page on the brilliant but still cell phone sized Captivate screen. Great download speed. Google spoken search feature is a blast. I have yet to speak a phrase, even 4-5 words long, that it didn't nail and find perfect search results. Wonderful phone. Absolutely fabulous. I feel like Buck Rogers in the 24th & 1/2 century.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, great features, great samsung support
Cons: difficult to find users manual online, at&t support site weak
I would recommend this to a friend!

A Great, Solid Phone.

When I bought my phone, I was debating between the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Captivate. Well, I decided on the Captivate, and I am not disappointed. I have seen and used the iPhone, and while it is a good phone, the Captivate can do everything the iPhone can do, but better.
The Captivate is a better multitasking phone, hands-down. The 1ghz Hummingbird Processor is blazing fast, and I believe it to be faster than the iPhone (which the processor's said to be 1ghz equivalent, but just isn't as quick when multitasking).
The Super AMOLED screen is also a plus. The colors are rich and vibrant, and with rich contrasts and black levels. The picture is ultra-sharp.
The 5MP camera is great, but I'll admit, the iPhone does take more vibrant pictures. However, I believe the Captivate to have better editing options and customizable picture options than the iPhone has. The 720p HD video quality is right on par with the iPhone. Both take great video.
Call quality is great, and it has great reception.
If you wish to make the phone yours, you can. It smashes the iPhone in its ability to customize. Apple has always been criticized for its products being cookie-cutter, and the iPhone 4 is no exception. It's virtually locked-down with what you can and can't do with it. If you wish to make the Captivate truly your phone, you can.
The one drawback that this phone has is really no front-facing camera. However, it does not diminish, in my mind, the other GREAT abilities that this phone possesses.
In summation, this phone can do everything the iPhone can do, but better. Android is a much more powerful system than iOS, hands-down, and this phone is evidence of that. The iPhone is a competent phone. But if you're looking for an exceptional device, with better multitasking, a brilliant display, an extremely fast processor, and a standard 16GB of memory, and with an mp3 player every bit as good, if not better than Apple's, then get this phone.
Pros: Durable, Lightweight, blazing fast w/ 1ghz processor, bright vibrant colors, really touch responsive, 5mp camera, 720p video recorder, mp3 player is great, fully-customizable
Cons: no led flash/front camera

Very happy with this phone. Meets all my expectations. Last phone was an Impression, and the Captivate blows that one away
This is a feature packed phone with excellent configuration for a smart phone, but due to software limitation, all it can use is half the RAM power.....yes just 256MB out of 512MB hardware. I believe once it is updated to Froyo it can use the full RAM capacity for smoother running.
