I purchased the Samsung Captivate Droid phone in late December. It is my first smart phone and i love the versatility of all the apps and performace of the phone itself. Amoled screen has bright, clean picture. Incorporated Gorilla glass also provides great durability without annoying screen protectors. Overall a great product.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing Phone

I have used various types of smartphones (Blackberry, Windows Mobile, iPhone) and I have to say that I am extremely impressed and completely satisfied with Android. But more so, with my Samsung Captivate. It is very well made, thin, light, and has an amazing 4" OMLED screen. The phone is feature-rich and performances flawlessly. I would definitely recommend this phone (and have) even to my iPhone friends!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

I just recently got this phone after having an iphone, and I love it.it has so many features that the iphone doesn't have. The only thing I don't like is how the camera doesn't have a light. Other than that I love it.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: no camera flash
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing features

So here's my list of pro's and cons. Starting with the bad.
Con's:
Side mounted "lock/unlock" button. Preferred iPhones central front mounted button. Battery life requires a charge every night. Some instability issues in the OS (app's have crashed a few times) maybe an OS update fix? No dedicated "silence" switch so you can switch to silent w/out removing the phone from your pocket.
Pro's:
Huge screen. Much bigger/brighter display than iPhone. Syncs with all your Google accounts: email, contacts, photos (picasa), calendar (such an awesome thing). Plays FLASH! Very very fast processor. Amazing call quality. Superb still/video camera w/ onboard effects, cropping and anti-shake. Great live, on desktop widgets for facebook, twitter, weather, news. HD video on wi-fi: stunning. You can use landscape mode for all forms of input (turning the phone into horizontal mode for a bigger keyboard for texting, emailing, browsing, youTube). Makes keyboard input much easier. Which btw, the Samsung/Android keyboard is great. Responds better than my iPhone did. Loud external speaker. Dedicated search button. Voice recognition search is AWESOME and actually works!
Overall I've really enjoyed the Captivate Galaxy S and it definitely does more than my first generation iPhone ever could.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nice phone but highly unreliable

What I like about it:
Big bright screen.
Clear screen.
Slim profile.
Relatively clear sound (thought AT&T connection makes it difficult to hear anything clearly).
Light weight.
Fast processor.
Drop down menu to turn on/off Wi-Fi, Silent, Vibration, Bluetooth.
What I don't like:
First of all... it keeps shutting down on me. I've missed just about every alarm in the morning because the phone had shut down. I turn it back on, and it shuts down again.... and again... until the battery is not completely full and then it seems to stabilize. However, this makes me call the phone COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE. Since I use the phone as my alarm, it has caused me to be late to work a number of times and is off when I'm expecting a phone call.
The power button is in a location that when you try to push it, you end up raising or lowering the volume on the other side.
The tolerances of the back aluminum battery cover are less than great. When the phone vibrates as I receive a call, it makes a terrible flapping sound as the metal cover hits the plastic. Construction is low quality.
The back is not very grippy at all. I fear I will drop the phone every time I handle it.
The browser is "sticky". When you try to scroll, it doesn't move and then it moves too much.
When receiving a text while the phone is set to vibrate, I wish it would vibrate and let me know I have gotten a text.
The factory Samsung keyboard is nice, but doesn't have a spell checker. The Android keyboard's keys are too close to each other which makes you misspell everything.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
