Samsung Captivate Review

This is my second captivate, I returned the 1st one due to random power shut downs. I've had the replacement phone for about a month now and it has been great with no problems! The screen images are super and the 5.0 camera takes great pictures. I'm still learning about the apps but I used the texting, email, calendar updates with gmail, weather, google maps and voice network searching and they all work as advertised. I'm very satisfied so far!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color
Cons: speaker volume could be better, screen touch sensitivity is very high
I would recommend this to a friend!

overall good phone but thought you should be able to use bluetooth headset instead of the earbuds to listen to music or the radio.... hopefully they can change that in the future or allow a download upgrade to to this?
I've now had my Samsung Captivate for almost 4 months. It has been a very good phone, but it does periodically turn itself off. There has been no known reason and it is happening to many others. In my case, it does not happen often, but can be very frustrating if you think the phone is on and it is not. Otherwise, it has been a great device.
Pros: Bright display, need android 2.2 but not available
Cons: no flash
I would recommend this to a friend!

If you never sync data with your PC, this is a great phone with tons of functionality. But if you want to connect via USB to sync with Outlook or other apps, then forget it. IMHO, Android OS is severely lacking in connectivity. I bought this because I couldn't stand using iTunes any longer. After my experience wit the Captivate, iTunes is looking pretty good. I will get another iPhone. Too bad ... I really wanted to like this phone. But for the money, it should work seamlessly out of the box, just like the iPhone does. And this OS is way off the mark.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations, horrible sync with pc
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An Amazing Phone with some Big Drawbacks

I'll be straight to the point, it's a great Phone with really cool features, quick and responsive, a nice screen and the Super-AMOLED is beautiful but it's battery life is ridiculously short, No flash (bringing phones back 5 years), USB connection issues and still no update to Android 2.2. And the biggest issue I had was the fact that the genre's for my music were incorrect even though they were fine in iTunes, Zune and Mp3tag. My issue with the USB connection was that it would connect, disconnect over an over again. I looked online and found others with the same issue. I tried everything, but it was never resolved. And those last two were my biggest reasons for getting rid of it seeing how I use my phone as my main mp3 player (had a 32gb Micro SD installed).
Cons: no android 2.2 update, short battery life, usb issues

I got the Captivate during a sale on Tiger Direct. I wasn't sure I was going to be completely satisfied, but this phone is amazing! After upgrading to Android 2.2, this thing positively flies! Oh, and the screen looks amazing. Great phone, would recommend it to anyone.
