The phone sound great but it is horrible to use. The battery life is a joke, it will turn off randomly, no matter what notification tone you set it to or the volume you set it at you will get half of them, the list goes on and on save your self the trouble and dont even try the phone
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great alternative to an iPhone, but...

The Captivate has a big screen, and is ten times more clear than a iPhone. The apps are similar to the iPhone, but the only thing I don't like, is that it does not allow me to add my Hotmail account. I believe the only way to do this is by restoring your factory settings, and assigning Hotmail as your primary email account, before you add your gmail account, which is mandatory in order to run some of the apps.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: no store to walk into for samsung support

I'm Happy Whit My Captivate

My new captivate phone, its the best phone I ever had to this moment in time. It has everything You are looking on a mobile phone. The Super AMOLED Screen makes your pictures and videos you shoot, extremely beautiful to the eye. Android 2.1 OS makes the phone an invaluable piece of technology. As the phone its upgradable to the next version of Android 2.2 (Froyo), It meets the standards for a New phone these days.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: gps sometimes not work at all

Pretty angry that on the samsung website it says that the captivate is upgradeable to android 2.2, but in reality, that is not true at all.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: no froyo

Battery runs out fast, but am trying a simple wallpaper, as the phone reports that most of the power usage is on the display. Phone comes with live wallpapers installed, one of which was selected when I got the phone. Also, micro-USB port a little loose. Not real confident it will last. Otherwise, so far, so ...great. LOVE plugging it into our big flat-panel TV!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, totally expandable
Cons: battery life short
