If only it lived up to it's potential

Great concept....poorly executed. Love the design, but the performance is killing me. Lags terribly and the GPS performance has been abysmal. I've tried all the lagfixes and GPS fixes out on the net, but nothing seems to correct the problems. It's a shame..the phone has loads of potential, but with the performance issues, I guess I'll have to go to another phone..and another manufacturer.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fantastic Phone

I have found with my limited use of this phone that it is a fantastic product. Although my learning curve is slow and the instructions seek vague to me, once I am shown how, I can set up and navigate without difficulty. Right now my only problem is with plugging the charger into the phone, It will not stay, keeps falling out. Seems like it is too loose or something.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

I really like this phone and the Android OS. I had many Blackberry's and I really like the switch.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: no flash for the camera

I must admit that will all of the new devices on the market it was a tough decision for me to choose a smartphone. After much research I chose the Captivate even despite some poor reviews. I am very satisfied with this phone. I have owned it for just over a month and I was very disappointed in the battery life AT FIRST. The battery was discharging very quickly even overnight without any updating in the background. After turning off wi fi when I am not using it and making a few other recommended adjustments the battery is lasting over a day and a half with moderate use. I am satisfied with that. The touchscreen works beautifully and the phone is easy to navigate with many great customizing options. The call quality is clear and I am able to maintain a signal as well as I have on any other phone. I do wish Samsung would "put their foot down" about so much bloatware that many users never even access. It takes up valuable real estate. This is my first smartphone and I have learned to use its features very quickly. There are many resources available including the detailed manual on this site. A friend of mine has the comparable model on a different carrier and she is thrilled with her phone as well. My only regret is that I have already scratched the back housing :o( in two small spots from one minor drop onto a rough surface. Buy a good case.....Thanks Samsung, for a great product!

New Captivate

Very satisfied with my Captivate purchase. This is my first smart phone and was going back and forth between choosing this or the iPhone. I finally decided on the Captivate due to price difference and I am not regretting it. All the apps that I would have wanted on the iPhone, I was able to find in the Android market (some cheaper, some a little more expensive). Anyways, I would highly recommend this phone to anyone.

Incomplete Solution

To be a true Smart Phone this product needs to come with a complete Sync solution in the box. The lack of PC based sync capability (in the US) makes this an incomplete product.

Great product, but I wish it had a more ergonomic design that fits naturally in my hand while making a call as well as using the apps. The weight on it is incredible though. Awesome value!
