I love my phone

I would give this phone an overall rating of a 5 if it would have come with android 2.2 (froyo) and if it had a flash. Other than those two things I love my Captivate.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The phone is excellent in its own right, design is very good ( although a glaring omission is NO LED!!!! ) and ergonomics and weight are great. The UI is nice, screen is gorgeous and the battery life is slightly above average.
My biggest problem comes two fold one in the manner in which samsung pushes out software updates, very late and with no information to its consumer public! Also it has not MAC OSX support!!! No driver downloads for mac no KIES for MAC HELLO!!! almost 20 % of the population uses MAC!!!!

Excellent Android Phone

This is a fine Android phone. My only gripes are:
1) It is still Android 2.2. Stunning for the Galaxy S as nearly all other new models from other manufacturers/carriers are 2.2. After speaking with AT&T and Samsung, no info was available when 2.2 would be available as an update.
2) Not crazy about the mini USB connection at all. The cord comes out at the slightest touch of the phone.
The overall performance and reliability of the Captivate (other than the aforementioned) is top notch!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: no android 2.2, connection for mini usb is poor and loose.

Was looking for a phone that would be comparable to the iPhone and I found it. This phone offers everything that the iPhone does and I'm very happy with it.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: a bit pricey but worth it

Nice display, Non Functional GPS, No updates

This phone Has a really nice display, Is very fast, Plays movies great, records video and takes nice pictures. My biggest Grip is the GPS doesn't perform well, if you rely on Location Based services, You might want to look somewhere else. We are still waiting for Froyo 2.2 with no ETA, Most android devices are already there if their hardware supports it.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, fast, nice camera
Cons: Did not meet expectations, lack of functioning gps, lack of current updates
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
