Purchased refurb model at a great price. Loving every minute with this phone - and no contract over my head. Heavy usage on first day drained battery quickly, but I expect that to improve as the battery is conditioned and usage normalizes. Great display, very responsive. The swipe text feature is very intuitive and a big time saver.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

This phone was an upgrade from the Blackjack II and is a huge step forward. The phone has performed above my expectations and I am pleased with the purchase. I show this phone off every chance I get and have received only positive responses. The Screen is large and bright and app organization is straghtforward. The Android Market has great apps for all occasions. This was a concern prior to purchase, I knew iTunes had good apps and I have been pleased with the Android offering. Overall great phone.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color

Love, love, love the phone and the features. Battery dies pretty quickly but that is to be expected when using apps. Camera is not as good as I would have liked, I have 2 small children who move fairly quickly so phone camera never typically work well for me. Blackberry camera however was much better. The charger port and cord are the worst design in any phone I have ever owned. I have to plug it in while it is on the table and not touch it after that and hope the charger doesn't fall out in the middle of the night. A friend of mine got this phone a couple days before me and has the same problem. The charger is really the only reason I would not recommend this to a friend.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: terrible charging system
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great screen!!! OS is lacking some functions. Went from Blackberry to Galaxy S running Android 2.1. This phone is not up to business usage. Kept dropping the network, powered off from time to time, hard to use keyboard unless you are concentrating on what your doing. Not intuitive. I think it is very close to being a great product. Maybe 1 or 2 generations out. I will look at this again when they release a new version
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, flimsy feeling in hands, shuts off for no reason
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great device but no Android updates

The Captivate is a great device. I was glad to give up my iPhone and get it. Unfortunately, I bought my Captivate in August and was told it would get Froyo in September. It's December and no Froyo. I have had to root and upgrade the phone on my own, something that really shouldn't be necessary.
I received an Samsung email today promoting the Galaxy Tab. It looks great, but I won't consider purchasing another Samsung product until I'm sure they have gotten serious about keeping up with Android updates.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, powerful, fast
Cons: no android updates
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is my first smart phone and I wanted a large screen phone and this one really gives it too me. The display is excellent. I love the Wi-Fi feature so I can access e mail and internet in hot spots and not use my data plan.
The phone is fast and responsive. A few of the features are difficult to use and will require playing in the menu in order to access it, but nothing overly difficult.
As others have stated the battery will drain quickly if you have a lot of applications because the Android OS really does not turn them off even when you close, this is more of an Android issue as opposed to the actual phone hardware, download and application killer from the android market. The built in mp3 player is excellent and even the included headset is nice.
This is just about the i-phone killer
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, responsive, fast processor, expandable memory
Cons: battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!
