Great smartphone! Fast, great screen, and decent camera. Just wish it had Froyo installed out of the box
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, fast processor
Cons: did not ship with android 2.2 froyo
I would recommend this to a friend!

Samsung really nailed it with this phone. The screen is amazing, feels solid in the hands. UI is fantastic. It's unfortunate that out of the box GPS does not work properly (update is said to be out by end of Sep.) and my phone shut itself off twice in the last 2 months for no reason. So hopefully these fixes are in the new Froyo 2.2!
I love this phone because it is sleek and it has a big screen and the call quality is great. It can do almost as much as the Iphone except for the front facing camera and lack of camera flash. Great for gaming and processor speed is very capable. I heard that the touch screen is made with Gorilla glass, so it should be extra durable to scratches and breaks. Just wish Samsung would hurry up with the Froyo update for the operating system and the Media hub so I can see the full potential of this phone.
Samsung Galaxy S and Android is still way behind in smooth functioning of touch screen features and transition of one screen/app to another. several times button has to be clicked before it comes to play.
It is definitely a good buy and hope to see performance improvement in newer version of Android.
Samsung really stepped it up when they unveiled their Galaxy S line, especially the more stream-lined Captivate. The performance of the device is great but there is one main issue and that is the GPS. But this is nothing to sweat over because Samsung has been working on an update and will also push future updates to keep the phone relevant and this is by far one of the best perks. The Captivate offers one of, if not the best media/graphics experience among any handset due to the S-AMOLED screen and the Hummingbird Processor. It runs extremely smoothly and offers so much in such a beautifully designed package that fits well in the hand. One draw back is that the Battery does not seem to last as long as the handsets I have previously owned even though I am a religious charger. Samsung has truly crafted a masterpiece. It definitely shows how hard they worked to create a seamless experience between all the facets of the user interface and all of the functionality of the phone. I could go on and on about this device but I need not. It is a great value for what it is. Oh and also, the sliding cover over the USB port is so cool and the back panel mechanism is amazingly awesome.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, future updates, graphics performance, camera, sliding port cover, back panel mechanism
