Good router

I was way behind progress with my old router and this one puts me in the now and future for performance!
I love this router. I was using an older Nighthawk router, but it was capped by a 450mbps internet port, while I have 2.5gbps internet. I wish I would have gotten a version higher, so I could future-proof my connection, because my ISP is promising 10gbps rollout over the next few years. I don’t want to go through the hassle of return, so I’ll just upgrade again in a few years. One thing some of my family noticed was that the range was not quite as good as before, but the speed and stability was greater.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bad connection, bad speeds

One would think that this new router would be an improvement from our old 2013 R7000, right? Wrong!! As soon as I plugged it in, troubles started and I was back to the prehistoric times of Wifi with 30~40 Mbps download speeds. This machine is advertised for a 3000 square feet coverage. We live in a 800 square feet 2, stories townhouse but reception was so bad that we could no longer play videos on one of the computers (through the old router we've been playing videos for years without problems). The Smart connect is also a huge failure. Our machines were connected to the 5 Ghz band, but were given 2.4 Ghz band speeds. I disabled it and this seemed to fix the download speed. However the next day I came back home after a couple of hours and the 5 Ghz band Wifi was gone! Computers were disconnected and unable to reconnect (had to reboot the router). Netgear has a nice flyer inside the box with the phone number to their Support. I am an IT guy and I do not have the time to spend hours on the phone to be asked if I updated to the latest firmware and to be instructed to reboot the router. If Netgear cannot make a router that works right out of the box, it has nothing to do in my home and was returned after 2 days...

Speed range and looks

Its everything i wanted it gives me the speeds i need over 1k mbs it covers my entire house and looks great.
As advertised. Paired with Nighthawk Mid/high-Split Multi-Gig 2.5Gbps Cable Modem (CM3000). Using Comcast 1000mbs. I have 30+ devices on it, and it handles with no issues.
