Great Performance

The RS500 replaces a Netgear XR500 that is no longer supported. WiFi connections to the XR500 were also beginning to exhibit connection issues and performance degradation. These problems have cleaned up with the RS500. We have no trouble getting our ISP's 500Mbps up/down over WiFi and wired connections. Ping latency is 7ms with a wired connection and 9ms with a WiFi connection. Installation and setup was easy, I used a web browser instead of the smartphone app. One minor issue occurred during setup when it checked for a firmware update and announced that I had the latest firmware. After completing setup and signing in as admin, I found that the router firmware was not the most recent and needed an update. I've only been running the router for a few days, but so far everything is working with no hints of any functional or performance issues. It supports 2.4Ghz, 5GHz and 6GHz WiFi channels, WiFi 7, and has a 2.5GHz WAN port, one 2.5GHz LAN port and three Gigabit LAN ports. I would definitely recommend it, particularly at the currently available 25% discount price.

This was a replacement for a model that recently went to end-of-life, the transition and installation went very smoothly due to the excellent interface that Netgear has established in the new router.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Old Linksys Router just stopped working. Ordered this router online from Best Buy on a Friday afternoon; dove 30 miles round trip to pick it up; and got every device (Laptop, Phone, Tablets, house lock, garage door, two dozen Hue Lights, and 4 TVs) all online in a little less than two hours!!!
