Updated router issues
on September 30, 2025
Posted by: Sunshine
The instructions say to plug in power supply, but DO NOT say to TURN ON with small button on back. No wonder it wouldn't work!!! This is a replacement for older Nighthawk, and using the same login/password settings. Still trying to use my desktop computer with direct Ethernet connection, rather than wifi. Yes, all the info is entered correctly, so what's wrong??

This was the best upgrade. I have a garage separate from the house and I have had no issues.

The router works great. I had an old router from 2010. This one has more coverage that even pass through the thick concrete walls in my Apt. Pretty happy.

I was so frustrated with my internet provider's modem/router unit that delivered half the speed I was paying for and constantly loosing it's internet signal. I couldn't even connect my detached garage door opener to the app because of lack of signal or barely get wifi on my front porch. I bought a Netgear modem, router and switch got everything connected and now I get exactly the speed I'm paying for! I can actually surf the web on my laptop on my network from the neighbors yard across the street and get better speed in my garage with the door closed than I use to get in my living room. The difference is simply astounding. I haven't had a buffering or lost internet connection yet. Do yourself a favor, spend the money buy your own Netgear equipment and ditch your providers junk.
I’m not an IT expert, but I’m not a novice either. Setup on the Netgear BE12000 wasn’t too hard, but it’s clear we’ve moved past the old days of plug-and-play. There are more steps to work through now, especially with extra features like Armor security. I’m testing the trial, but since it runs on Bitdefender, I’m not sure I’ll keep it.
Performance is where this router shines. Coverage is strong throughout the house, and it handles everything I’ve thrown at it. I’ve got 17 devices connected (not all active at once), and there hasn’t been a single complaint about speed or stability. Latency stays low and throughput feels rock solid.
The price tag is high, and I’m hoping the investment holds up long term. My last router purchase was seven years ago, and things have changed a lot since then. With today’s demand for speed, security, and device load, it makes sense that premium hardware comes at a premium cost.
If you’re looking for serious WiFi 7 performance and broad coverage, this router delivers. Just know you’re paying top dollar and the setup isn’t as effortless as it used to be.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We had a router go out right when I was supposed to start working. We were able to get our new one up and running quickly with no issues!
I replaced my internet provider's equipment with the Netgear RS500. I get better speed in my detached garage over wifi than I used to get in my living room! I'm actually getting the speed I've been paying for all these years. I can actually surf the web on my laptop in the back corner of my backyard and across the street on my neighbors porch. Wish I would have to got rid of the old stuff out sooner!
