P-215 Connection Issues

I loved my P-215 and used it only intermittently for many years. WIthout a change in my laptop, OS, etc, over the years it became harder and harder to get the scanner to connect to its software. Now it just sits collecting dust while my scanning pile (mostly bills) just grows. Hesitant to get another because of the issue. Hoping to hear from Canon.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
