My former system was a two part router and speaker. When I got the notification that it was at th end of it's expected usefulness, I ordered the replacements that were recommended. Imagine my surprise when I found that the 2nd piece was only a satellite.....no speaker. My desktop is now cluttered with the satellite and portable speakers. Connectivity between main server, router and this satellite and speakers is a royal pain. Usually 2 trips back and forth upstairs/downstairs to get all working together.
Not working great. Thinking about returning it. Not getting Wi-Fi 7 speeds. Wi-Fi at times in the single digits. Seems to be all issues with the second node.
When I get back to house the network is not seen by my TV until I reset happens lot. Like it needs a constant connection. I never had any problems with Orbi 6. Plus my Sonos is another story unit self with Orbi 7 VS the Orbi 6.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Router

I was very nervous about upgrading my router to the Netgear Orbi 770, mostly since I had almost 30 pieces of equipment connected to my previous Netgear Nighthawk AX12 and dreaded having to reconnect all of those devices. Luckily, today most devices only look for two things, the router’s username and the password. So, if you keep the same username and password from your old router, almost everything will reconnect. Out of 30 devices, I had to connect only 5. So far, the new Orbi 770 couldn’t be better. My entire house, including outside, now has a very strong signal.

We've had a Nighthawk wifi6 AX5400 for the last 5 years and helped with our coverage into our 1,200 ft condo with some cement walls. It was an improvement, but not great. Now that the NHawk is no longer supported, we decided it was time for a mesh system to see if it would help. I'm happy to report that having the mesh and satellite, Orbi Mesh 770 really did the trick. Set up was easy, except I kept getting updates which didn't help connect all our devices like lights, etc. Now that we are fully updated, everything has installed perfectly and the connection and speed is better than ever. Should have done this sooner, because now all the issues with the cement walls has vanished. It also looks better with the smaller footprint. The Orbi App helped with the install too. Happy New Year to our new Mesh System, Netgear and to us and all those looking to improve their signal. The Mesh is the way to go !!!
The website description implies that there is no cross-series functionality, but I had to do some digging to find the chart that explicitly says as much. I had to return the unit and purchase the correct one. It has been 2 weeks since Fedex picked up the unit but no word yet on any refund.
