[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While most Dremel owners enjoy the handheld convenience and control that comes with the standard units, there are times when additional flexibility is need for the task at hand. This is when I turn to my second Dremel that has the Flex Shaft Attachment on it. It is semi-permanently installed at my hobby/small project desk where the more delicate operations that I use my Dremel for are usually done. I have hung the Dremel tool up and the attached the shaft to it creating a far less expensive version of a purpose built shaft grinder. I have added a Dremel keyless chuck for ease of tool change and can use any Dremel accessory or drill bit I like. The advantage that is instantly obvious to a user is weight--the Dremel shaft is much smaller and lighter than the whole unit making delicate or confined space operations very easy. The shaft can do nearly everything a Dremel unit can with the exception of using some of the attachments which must be screwed onto the motor housing. It is not a replacement, but a needed addition in my estimation and I have a dedicated Dremel tool it stays attached to for this reason.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] l bought this to crave names into project tops. Even though my 8220 is not that heavy the shaft makes craving so much easier
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've purchased a few of these. I'm actually about to purchase a 4th becsuse they seem to developer a vibration over time that fatigues my hand. Other then thatis a great item to have.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this while stationed overseas in the mid 2000's because I needed to do detailed work on an aluminum intake and the Dremel body was too cumbersome. Once I saw hoe much easier it was to control, I never too it off. 16+ years, dozens of projects form cutting, polishing, sanding, sharpening, and it's still running perfectly!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this about 4 months ago and I wish that I would have bought sooner! It is so much easier to use when you have small hands. I carve mushrooms and it is a MUST to be able to get in there and have a lot of detail work that I do. I can't imagine not using this on just about everything that I carve, Excellent product! If you don't have one, I highly recommend that you get one!
