[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So happy we decided to get the flex shaft. It gets into all the tight spaces and makes the Dremel more versatile. While renovating an old home, we used it to cut the bolts off the new toilet.

Makes long projects so much easier on the hands

When you need power but must work on details.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The higher-end Dremel tools have speed, speed control, power, massive torque, and the convenience of constant power from, well, being plugged to a wall. But what if you could transfer all this convenience to a hand piece that will allow for more controlled, and thus detailed work? Here comes the flex shaft. Hook it up to your Dremel, (a very easy process) and you suddenly have almost all the convenience of a smaller, battery powered Dremel, (I say almost because you are still tethered within a couple of feet of the big tool, plugged to the wall). But for the loss of convenience the tethering comes with, you gain the power of a big tool in a, once again large-marker sized package. You get Power all day. Speed control. Easy change of accessories, and the ability to work on small and detailed projects. The shaft is not perfect as, well, the design makes it hard to ensure a 100% smooth power transition, but for the small glitches here and there, ocasional slip in the transfer rod, and well, the little getting used to working while attached to this cable attached to the tool, it’s still worth every penny. And it’s not expensive, which makes the investment almost a no-brainer, even if you don’t have to get into tight spots (which this more than helps) or work on very fine and small items. Every time I’ve bought a large Dremel tool, I’ve always included the shaft. It’s worth having around because you might not feel that you need a small battery powered one, as your jobs are usually on the larger side, but you never know… and it’ll come up, when the day comes that you might need the convenience of something as small and versatile size-wise as a pen to get into a tight space, and like I said… for the price, it’s worth having in your tool kit.
