Remote is frustratingly impossible to work

Upon initial installation this model seemed like a nice upgrade from my previous version. Shortly after using the device, within the first week, the button presses stopped registering. Very frustrating to try and use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Faster than firestick, gets hot no sleep function

Overall, it works fine. Performance is good and scrolls through app menus better than other devices I have used. To me, there is an issue with heat and the lack of sleep mode is disappointing. It will always be drawing power at basically full rate from what I can tell. It got hot to the touch after 3 days of nobody using it.
Remote design is good and the power and volume buttons work well for controlling those specific tv functions. The device is lacking a very much needed Input button, however, so you have to switch to the tv remote anyway to do that, which makes them less valuable if you want to switch quickly. I can understand that you'd need to anyway to control them, but I think the lack of the input button is a missed opportunity.
Wifi works well and have had no issues with it other than the heat.
I would recommend it, but hope they add a sleep mode instead of a screensaver soon.

If you are receiving an on-screen warning that your player is getting too hot, we encourage you to visit: go.roku.com/tempcheck.
If your Roku player is warm to the touch, you may want to try finding a cooler location for your device. For example, you'll want to avoid placing the unit inside a closed space, such as a cabinet. And we recommend not placing your device on top of other electronic devices such as cable boxes, routers, or audio/video receivers. Be sure that your player is also not in direct sunlight.

Easy and fast

I love this new Roku. Set up was super easy and it’s faster -as promised- than the older model. And the new remote is great too, voice activation is something I never used on the old one.
