Quality Bottle Makes Baby Happy
on April 12, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After trying this bottle 1-2 times per day for a week, my baby is no longer happy with her existing bottles and will only drink half unless it is from the Philips Avent Bottle with Natural Response Nipple! I am also happier with this bottle due to the shape and that it does not drip everywhere. Looks like I will be buying a full set.
We don't drink from plastic bottles so why should my baby? When I had my first in 2018, a priority was to use glass or silicone bottles for the baby too. I ordered 2 brands in glass and 1 silicone to try. Since my baby had no major issues, I stopped using one due to the hassle of cleaning it. The old style slow flow nipple the glass Philips Avent came with at that time was too fast for my baby so I dropped those too and went with option #3. First week with baby #2, same story, I tried the Philips Avent again and the nipple was too fast for my baby so back to the silicone brand. I see in other reviews, the biggest complaint on the new style nipple is the flow is not as fast as the old. For me, my complaint was that they were too fast!
Fast forward to 2022, my baby is 7 months old and I was given this bottle to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. This bottle has the new style Philips Avent Natural Response Nipple that releases milk when the baby sucks on the bottle. This is awesome for 2 reasons: 1. no spilling/dripping mess or waste, and 2. the nipple responds to the baby, more like breastfeeding.
My baby is 7 months old, exclusively formula fed since 8 weeks. She easily took the Philips Avent Bottle with the Natural Response Nipple after using a different brand for her first 7 months of life. The shape is easy for her to use and she has no problem drinking from it. I like that the bottle is a reasonable size and diameter that fits comfortably in my hand and in the insulated pockets of our diaper bag (unlike the other bottles we were using that are too wide for the diaper bag and tip over easily when set down!). The cap is easy to remove and put back on, even with one hand if needed (that is one of my biggest complaints about the other bottles we use, she is screaming with hunger and I am fighting to get the lid off the bottle). It is also easy to clean with only 4 parts and 1 nipple vent. The bottle feels solid and is hard to tip over. Not that I plan to drop it, but I think it could survive a fall onto the counter or my vinyl kitchen floor.
The biggest con is the difficulty finding the appropriate nipple flow when switching to this bottle. The flow of the size 3 nipple is much slower than the size 2 nipple of a different brand she normally uses. At first, it was taking her about 20 minutes to finish a bottle versus 10 with her usual brand. After a week of getting used to putting in effort to suck from a bottle again, it is down to 15 minutes. When switching at this age, figuring out the appropriate nipple size/flow is the most difficult/confusing part as the sizing differs from other brands. I expect we would do better with size 4 or 5. It is probably much easier to size up if you are starting with this bottle from the beginning. I also think I would have stuck with this bottle if these were the nipples we had started with versus the old style that was too fast for both of my babies.
With the other brand, both the size 1 and size 2, she ends up with milk on her chin and I always need to make sure to have a bib and burp cloth ready as it drips when she pauses. Sometimes it ends up in her hair when she pushes it away quickly. With the Natural Response Nipple, no leaking, no drips, no spills.
Pros: -No leaking! Tilt the bottle to mix up any formula that settled, let it fall on its side on the couch, no worries, the milk won't come dripping out. -Glass bottle. I feel best about using a glass option for my baby's health. -Easy to wash, assemble/disassemble. Cap is easy to remove/put on.
Cons: -Nipple size/flow confusion: sizing is numbered differently than other brands. Hard to find the equivalent size if switching brands
These two are cons you can expect for any glass bottle but the pro in terms of health far, far outweighs them: -Weight of the bottle for sterilization: I boil my bottles weekly, it is much harder to lift these out of the boiling water with my tongs. -Weight of the bottle for the baby: while she is starting to lift a silicone bottle and hold it, she will likely not be able to hold this bottle and lift it up before she turns 1 and we switch to cups.

Exceeded Expectations

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this baby bottle from the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I am so happy with it! The glass is beautiful and surprisingly not heavy even when filled with water (between 4-6oz). I love that it is narrow and fits in our diaper bag easily, yet the opening is wide enough to easily pour formula. My biggest concern is that my baby prefers nursing over bottles. She randomly stopped taking the bottles we've been using since birth just recently, but for some reason, drank from the Avent glass bottle instantly! She prefers it over our old bottles now and we can finally use bottles again! She is 8 months old and can even hold the bottle by herself! Clean up is easy as well

Love these bottles

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was super happy to receive the avent natural glass bottle from the stellar product testing panel. I’ve always used the natural plastic bottles for my first two kids and they have held up great but I definitely prefer the glass because it doesn’t scratch and it is so easy to clean. I was always afraid that it would be too heavy so I was deterred from buying glass bottles but I would definitely buy these in the future!

Something different

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to the Stellar review panel, I was able to try out this bottle for my little one! We typically use the avent bottles, so it was cool to use one that I knew she would take, but different from the rest. She took it with no issue. The flow was great for her. The quality of the glass was great. I will say this bottle will only be for around the house so it doesn’t break in the diaper bag! Great product!

The almost perfect glass bottle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received an 8oz Phillips Avent glass bottle through the Stellar product testing panel, and was immediately impressed with the over-all quality! On first impression, you can tell the bottle is durable, light-weight and attractive. I love the ergonomic design making it very comfortable to hold. I also loved that the measuring lines were bold and easy to read.
As for the nipple, I wish I could rave about it but my baby unfortunately would not take to it. She's always been a bottle fed baby and I think she was too used to her current brand to switch. Maybe with a different nipple flow it would've been different. I will say that the nipple was absolutely spill proof, which is amazing! That, along with the travel lid, made it much easier to carry then past experiences I've had with bottles.
My only reservation was the shape. I didn't like how wide the bottles were because I wouldn't be able to fit more then 1 in the insulated pocket of my diaper bag. I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem for everyone, but I just found it took up a lot of space.

Best Thick Glass Bottles
on April 12, 2022
Posted by: Aventglass
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our favorite bottles! We have the glass bottles in 4oz and 8oz sizes. I wanted to not worry about the sterilizing and the hot/freezing temp changes with plastic. Plus environmental and micro plastic concerns. So, using glass bottles was a priority to me.
The best thing about these bottles is the thickness of the glass. We transport them in our diaper bag and clean them in the dishwasher no problem. I would be really surprised if they chipped.
I was worried about the weight with a thick glass bottle but it has not been an issue. My 8 1/2month old can hold the 8oz to feed herself. I did not use them to connect to my breast pump directly; I could see that being a problem with the weight.
We transitioned from breastfeeding to breast and bottle to just bottle and the nipples worked perfectly through all stages. We started with a 0 size then switched to a 3 size - no issues! Never had any problems with her taking it or the flow rate.
The one unfortunate con is that you have to watch out for the lid. I think it might have less threads than the plastic version so it can unscrew more easily. After spilling the botttle once - you learn to double check that it is screwed on straight and tight (but not too tight).
I received an 8oz bottle as part of the Stellar Product testing panel.

Good quality not great for breastfeeding

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. The bottle is very thick glass, is a good size and is very high quality. I like the look and feel of this bottle even better than the bottles I currently use. The nipple does not leak and no liquid comes out without suction, as advertised. This is great until you need to test the milk temperature on your wrist, since this is impossible with this bottle! However, the main reason why l wouldn’t switch to this bottle for future children is the latch. The baby doesn’t need to open their mouth very wide to latch into the bottle, so going back and forth from bottle to breast could because improper latch when at the breast. For older or exclusively bottle-fed babies this bottle would work well.

Great bottle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent bottle for a breastfed baby! My daughter took it with no issues at all. She has a hard time with faster flowed nipples, she ends up leaking all over losing half her meal. No leaking here, and the flow was perfect. The nipple was wide, but less rounded before a the nipple, it's flatter, shaped like an actual breast almost. Her coordination while using it was excellent. I think the sleeves are a great idea! So handy! And I absolutely love that it is glass rather than plastic! Highly recommend for breastfed, nicu babies, who struggle with eating..
