Excellent UPS

Excellent UPS for the price - after connecting an external battery pack, I get a little over 7hrs of back up as the setup I currently have doesn't draw much from the batteries. The BIG draw back to me however: Doesn't seem to monitor battery voltage as it runs on battery, I feel there's a hard timer, as technically I should be getting much longer run time with this unit as when it "forces shuts off", I still have 12.7volts in each battery (25.4volts when checking the two banks) which indicates to me the unit isn't monitoring, but simply runs on a pre-set runtime based on UPS usage when kicking in battery power . . Other than that drawback, cannot say anything wrong about it!

My Tripp-Lite Samrt1500LCDXL developed a problem with the LCD screen after 2 years and 11 months of continuous 24/7 use. The warranty was for 3 years. As soon as I described my problem to the Tripp-Lite service technicians, they immediately gave me an RMA, sent me a new Smart1500LCDXL and all I had to do was pay the postage to return the unit with the faulty LCD screen. These people really take care of you. These units are rock-solid. But if any problem does occur, Tripp-Lite stands very firmly behind their products. You can't go wrong with the Tripp-Lite brand!!

The SMART1500LCDXL has plenty of capacity for a Home/Office PC setup with plenty of room to spare. My normal full load with the PC, monitor, cable modem, wireless router, USB hub, Cordless phone, 3-piece speaker system and a desk lamp comes to only 300 watts. The 6 power outlets fed all my backup power needs. The LCD readout provides all the information you could want and allows you to customize the display to your specific needs. When my normal power fails, I have high confidence that my system will continue to operate normally until I safely shut it down.

Noisy fan doesn't turn off.

This unit is well priced for the features it gives. 1500vA with the option of adding a battery pack. Setup is easy and straight forward. My biggest complaint ... and it's a BIG issue for me ... is that the fan on this unit NEVER GOES OFF. It's a variable speed fan that does speed up and slow down as needed, but it is always on. I purchased it for my AV (audio/video) entertainment system. I can't enjoy what I'm watching because there is a constant whirring of small fans going on. If you are installing this somewhere where a constant low-level noise won't bother you, then it's a great product. Otherwise, I'd suggest finding a different UPS where the fans only spin up when in battery mode.
