Easy install. Trust this brand, have used frequently in past. No problems with directions or equipment. Even in thunder/lightning storms and power surges/spikes - no damage or lost data/power.

Excellent UPS for the price

I got tired of the frequent power spikes in my area and needed an affordable UPS. The Back-UPS ES 550VA lives up to APC's name. I've used several of APC's products in datacenters and would recommend this unit. I had no issues with the battery installation. I did, however, have an issue when moving the unit to different locations in the house. A couple of OFF/ON cycles and it came back online.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Right out of the box, plugged in, and protecting. In an area of frequent power interruptions and spikes we depend on the APC battery backup to protect our electronics. It has proven itself very reliable and we are confident it will safeguard even when we cannot be there. Lightning storms don't even cause problems now. Excellent product!

I really depend on this model UPS. I have two protecting computer systems. I also have a 750 protecting another system. I really appreciate APC equipment. I wouldn't have any other brand!

Right out of the box; I hooked-up the battery terminal as directed, plugged it in, turned it on, and got the "Replace Battery" indications.
I would recommend this to a friend!

New Unit

The instructions for connecting battery seem to apply to a slightly different model. In step 2 of Connect Battery, I was unable to remove the battery from the unit. With some difficulty, I slid the battery wire onto the battery terminal.
Since this is a new unit I have been unable to rate it's performance other than telephone pass through is ok and and other circuits provide power.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Please add mounting holes

Great device. Please add mounting holes on the back so the UPS can be hung on the wall. The previous model had these mounting holes. We miss them.
