A must have with a gas range

Has made a HUGE difference in our indoor air quality! Placed over our gas range that prevoiusly had only a microwave oven w/exhaust. We couldn't cook much without our monitored smoke detectors going off and having to explain to the monitoring station that it's just another false alarm. Haven't had a single issue since installing the Hauslane. Highly recommend!
Ordered & arrived promptly. A heavy & awkward thing to install, and one of the screws caught & bent in the process. Would have appreciated a paper template to attach to board for hole drilling placement. It is now functional and working wonderfully. Great air flow, & love the lighting! A great plus to remove grids & drip tray to clean in dishwasher!
Love it! Finally our daughter and son-in-law can use their new stove/grill for smoky steaks. No visible air issues at all. Works great.

Looks Great, Good Price, Operates Easy, But...Needs Better Holes

This great looking unit performs as it should -- well. It keeps the cooking smells and clouds of fragrant steam to a minimum. Self cleaning capability is quite nice and the (for lack of a better description for it) "oil drip pan" under the fans (and located directly above your stove's burners) is easy to remove (with its magnetic catches) and is easy to wipe down every few months to get rid of the oil crude that inevitably gets all over a range hood (I just use clorox wipes and the stuff wipes off...if you don't let it set for a couple years and harden into a sticky mat). It's a little bit on the noisy end of the spectrum, but...I feel it's acceptable (I actually like it), but others may not like the background sound of turbines while they're cooking a meal.Installation, for the most part, was pretty straight forward, including routing and hooking up the exhaust ducting. However, there was one irritating item I wrestled with and that was screwing the thing into the bottom of the cabinet. It's not an easy, straight shot with a screw gun and an extension deep through the guts of the machine and it took me a while to figure out a means of keeping the screws from getting knocked off the tip of my screw gun while trying to work my way to the screw holes. Basically I abandoned a couple of the more difficult mounting holes and drilled new ones in secure, but easier to access locations. Not the first time I've had to deal with something like this. I truly believe (and I am sure many installation pros and DIY'ers believe this too) that design engineers should be forced to install things that they design -- with regularly available hand tools -- before releasing products for production/sale.Just saying....

Defective Unit recieved

First two hood came with damaged so had to return.Third hood arrived perfect.Installation takes two people and went to homedepot to buy addtional hardware to beef up the mounting. So far, used it for 1 year and I LOVE IT.Asolutely wonderful suction power. Although you do need to crack a window open for make up air to flow into your house. It will make your AC run a lot harder but I think it's worth the trade off to get the cooking smell out.You really need to crack a window in the room to allow air replacement. This may cause AC/heater to run harder and thus increase you electric bill. This is just a trade off you have to make to get rid of greasy smell.
