I use this to protect my computer, my wife's computer and a LOT of associated equipment. If I had been more careful about what I plugged into the old one, it would probably still be trustworthy, but I had some powered speakers and a printer plugged in that would overload it and I finally abused it too much. I'm sure it helped my equipment last longer. Many UPSs have died while that unit lived on. This new one has more information on display. It has an open top grill that I will have to keep an eye on over the years of dust. I hear the small click of the unit going into action every time I use the microwave in the kitchen-it is constantly in use.
I purchased this to make sure that my power supply to my computer was maintained now that there would be fluctuations in amperage due to the use of window air-conditioners. So far it has worked perfectly, wish I had purchased this years ago.
Other reviewers report transformer hum and/or voltage irregularities. I replaced a very good non-Tripp unit that died of old age with a Tripp-Lite 1200 and find the latter at least equivalent, possibly better at cleaning line noise. Great buy IMHO.
Got a new laser printer that would crash my pc every time I turned the printer on. Printer was causing a momentary line voltage dip. This line conditioner keeps pc from crashing every time. Recommended!
The first thig I did on receipt of my LC1200 was to test it for conformance to the specifications. I found my unit to fall within stated specifications. The unit is sturdy and gives you both audio and visual indication. In Addition good surge protection is provided
