This unit has one major drawback that i dont think a lot of people realize. It doesnt have an automatic setting for switching between heat and cool. So your unit can only do one thing at a time. Other units can switch back and forth automatically. So in the spring and fall when its cold in the mornings and you want heat and then hot in the afternoon, your stuck with it only doing one or the other. Or you have to manually switch it back and forth. Terrible decision with the design.
I like being able to control the thermostat even when I’m not at home via the Wifi enabled app on my phone. The thermostat was really easy to install. I recommend taking a picture of the wiring on the old thermostat to make it easier to know which color wire goes to which terminal on the new thermostat.
Looks nice, but as much as this thing costs you folks didn't even think to have a display DIMMING feature? This thing lights up my hallway at night. You can't just use the "custom" display function either because half of the background and font color combinations aren't allowed! I'll reserve my final judgement until after a couple of months when I can see my bills.
Beautiful thermostat. 2 issues: 1) the "app" prompts for my password too often. It actually a web page, not a real iPhone app. 2) You need the option to have the screen dim after 3 minutes of not being touched. The upstairs thermostat is in person's room and is "bright" at night.
