The color and clarity of the screen is good and there are lots of color options to accent the room. 2 major issues. 1st, the touch screen is not sensitive, so you have to press multiple times and very intentionally. I have 3 of these thermostats and they all behave the same. 2nd, they will not auto switch between heat and cool so in the inbetween seasons you have to manually set the mode from heat to cool or vice versa. I have a Trane unit in my other home that does this automatically and a Nest that I installed at my mothers condo that gives you the option to set heat and cool set points.
Screen flickers all the time and always disconnects from the wifi. I even had it checked and installed by two hvac specialists and continue to have issues.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Installed it and 8 days later sensor failed had to replace whole thermostat
we are not able to program this thermostat...it seems to have been programmed already and we cannot change it. We cannot figure out why it's set to change at 4:30 am. My husband is very computer savvy and he's baffled--after spending over an hour trying to figure it out.
Ever since having the thermostat installed my HVAC system has been a nightmare. It is "Programmed" to something that I did not set, and I can't erase this program. My online ability to control the system through the app with Honeywell no longer works. My HVAC comes on and off according to a program that does not suit my needs. I am very displeased with this product, and calls and inquiries to try and solve the issues have done nothing.
Easy to install and set up. Programming is easy also. Caution - when installing in low humidity regions (AZ, CO, NV, etc), the unit will display sensor error and return it. However, this is a known issue and will work properly after a few days. Honeywell needs to fix this!
Very basic, slow to respond to commands made via the app; changes screen color theme to prevent screen burn in. But neither sales, techs, nor Honeywell support advised or explained, nor was there information in the user guide. Lots of frustration until HVAC contractor researched and clarified that color change is a normal operating feature.
