The instructions that come with this thermostat are poor. I could not register the equipment and had to get an operator to help because I was replacing a similar model thermostat. The display was a major disappointment due to its small size and quality of the technology used to display the graphics. I could not set the thermostat up to display Celsius. A service technician helped to do this but needed to change to business mode to access the setting. It all works now but I am disappointed with the quality. I suspect the unit is manufactured in China with inexpensive parts.

Solution with add on approved 24VAC power Supply

This thermostat works with a 2 wire T T from your aqua stat. You must purchase an approved standalone power supply, that supplies 24VAC. I purchased the power supply and installed it with the new thermostat and by my surprise, I saved 37 Gallon of heating fuel in 1 month. I have always trusted Honeywell a well made product replacing two older Honeywell thermostats with this model. the temperature is true, and the access from your smart phone is simplistic. The 7 day programmable feature is great. Without paying for the more expensive nest thermostats this is a perfect solution for HVAC and traditional Oil Burner systems. Great job once again Honeywell, please update the power add feature to your customers as your product sales will increase dramatically. Great Job, well satisfied.

Easy install, works great as a regular thermostat but Wi-Fi only works about 20% of the time. As a touch screen it’s really easy to use but fails to actually connect most of the time. When the app is opened the screen shows “connecting” but times out before the app connects to the thermostat.

The app has failed so I have no control of my furnace from my iPhone. Who knows when this will be rectified. Never heard of this happening with a Nest thermostat so I may be doing some shopping in the next few days.

If you have a dual fuel system such as a heat pump with a gas heat as emergency backup it is possible that both systems will operate at the same time. This is a poor design by Honeywell the solution is to add a heat pump lockout relay. There is no setting to disable the heat pump once the outdoor temperature reaches a desired temperature and switch to emergency heat. When I asked their experts all they would tell me is that it disables the heat pump based on an algorithm. Since the thermostat has no outdoor temperature probe I presume it’s getting its outdoor temperature based on internet information so your actual outdoor temperature is very likely different. This thermostat has the potential to be a excellent thermostat but in its current configuration I give it two stars. I will definitely be looking to replace this with something better.

I like the display and accessibility via Wi-Fi, but I wish it had a “not at home” function. If your schedule is consistent during the week, programming is fine, otherwise you have to manually adjust anytime you leave.

The touchscreen is not very sensitive and sometimes I have to press all around the button before it actually registers. Very annoying. I will probably upgrade later. This thermostat was included with the purchase of our new heatpump. My wife loves the ability to change the background color.
