Excellent thermostat with extensive information

After reviewing several WiFi thermostats, I decided to go with a name that I know and trust from working the in HVAC field myself. Honeywell stands out as a popular, well known, trustworthy workhorse for HVAC controls. I installed the 9000 WiFi series to replace several older Honeywell VisionPro 8000 touch screen thermostats. Installation was easy, I installed them in my church to control 3 different 12-15 ton package A/C, natural gas furnaces that heat and cool our auditorium. Standard wiring was used, they were up and running within minutes. Registration of the thermostat and connection to the WiFi went smoothly. There is a great amount of information on the screen, including the weather forecast! Even the outdoor temperature and humidity is displayed without actually having a temperature sensor installed outdoors. They are attractive and look sophisticated. The color screen and the ability to change it is kind of gimmicky, but neat nonetheless and you will find yourself changing it periodically. The thermostats have all the programming abilities of the 8000 series that are important to us like auto changeover, locking or partially locking the screen to prevent tampering with the programming, ability to program the fan controls to run or cycle during occupied times, and the ability to simply override the current program for an event that falls outside of occupied times.
Total Connect Comfort on the web is where you start to register all your information, label your building/area/location and grant other users access. Multiple contact people can be assigned and granted user access to make changes and /or receive notifications which can be set up to alert you if the temperature rises or falls to extreme limits.The web site will display a simulation of your wall thermostat from which you can make changes easily.
The Total Connect Comfort app for a mobile device is easy to use and includes all of the settings you need to control the thermostats remotely from your mobile device. The users that are granted access will need only the mobile app to make changes to the settings on the thermostats.Temperatures can be raised or lowered, changes can be made to the programming. I have already been able to override the scheduled occupied times from home to keep the heat set back to unoccupied for several events that were canceled because of weather related issues. I am able to adjust the thermostats in the auditorium even while I am seated in place there. It is nice to be able to monitor the units remotely and see when they are heating or cooling. In our case, since all of our units are conditioning the same large area, it helps me to monitor the run time of each unit and balance it accordingly.
If there is any negative comment that I need to make, it is that the Honeywell Total Connect Comfort site has been down several times already in the short time I've had the stats installed. when the site is down, control is still possible at the thermostat, but not with the web or app. Apparently this issue occurs with enough frequency, that when you do a Google search for "Honeywell down", you can find a map of the areas where the site is currently disabled. On the plus side, the map and location reporting will help you to determine if there is a problem on your end or on Honeywell's end.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this WiFi thermostat and at this point I can highly recommend this model.

The Honeywell Programmable Thermostat runs rings around the Nest (altho the Nest is more aesthetically cool). We had so many problems with the Nest tho, and its wi-fi connectivity, that we had to just get rid of it. We love this Honeywell. It smoothly connected to our wi-fi. The programming works great. Also, I love being able to choose a color scheme that goes with ours.
