This is my second attempt with an air fryer. The first one I had smelled like plastic and the food did as well. This one is the same way. Yuck

Seems some changes were made

Returned mine as there was a real rough spot on the base unit plate that felt like sandpaper. The base also was a black metal. Bought another at different store, first one came packed in styrofoam and instruction manual in plastic bag, new one came packed in stressed cardboard and the base plate in unit is now plastic. Instruction manuals came in envelope. I am wondering are the changes from metal to plastic an advantage or cost savings move. Looking for Ninja to answer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ninja® EzView Air Fryer Max XL, 5.5-QT with 7 Functions is just amazing! I love how you can now see the food cooking with the new EzView window! This Ninja Air Fryer cooks food perfectly everytime and is super easy to clean. The round shape seems to fit more than the standard rectangular bins. I live this new kitchen tool! My uncle, who we gifted our second one to loves his as well and cooks three meals a day in it instead of eating out all the time before he had his Ninja. Amazing product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] NINJA continues to blow me away! I am completely in love with this 5.5 quart air fryer!! Ever since I started air frying a few years ago I have graduated air fryers. I started out with a smaller style, but as a family of 7 this air fryer is the winner! Not only is it sleek and stylish but it’s also compact complementing any kitchen decor while fitting virtually anywhere. The different button functions are easy to read and use and let’s not forget it’s massive basket! I love how I am able to cook larger quantities at once vs making a little at a time. My kids love being able to watch their favorite foods crisp up through the window! While I have only used it to air fry foods such as nuggets and fries I completely love this machine and highly recommend it, especially for anyone with little kids! I look forward to branching out with different foods and seeing what it’s capable of.

Great Features

I purchased my Ninja in November and I have only used my regular oven 5x's since. Yesterday (Father's day), I prepared my husbands fathers day dinner in my Ninjs. I used Bake and Air Broil. I made Ribeye steak (boneless) and veggies and baked potato. I have made fish, chicken, pizza, fries and much more. This was a GREAT investment and I am going to get my daughter one for her new place.I absolutely love it for healthier cooking and I do not even warm up anything in the microwave anymore. I have not used the dehydrate feature as of yet, but every other feature have been utilized. I absolutely love this purchase and I would definitely gift this 10x's over.

This product is less than six months old and it will not power on. Not sure what it happened to it, one day is was working and the next day it was not.

First meal was fish and chips, both were from frozen state. Had to drop temp on fish, crust was burning and fish wasn't done, but edible after lowering temp. Fries can out just fine, super crunchy on the outside, mellow on the inside.
Second dish I tried was 'air-frying' fresh chicken thighs. Again, crust was done before chicken cooked to safe temp. Of course they tasted great since I am such a wonderful cook, but the temp controls seem to be more sensitive than even a toaster oven convection setting.
Love the speed of cooking, and so easy to clean, just need to be patient with the learning curve on temps.

We were drawn to this product based on our positive experiences with other Ninja appliances and, the fryer works fine, but the smell of plastic when the unit is on is not dissipated. Molten plastic smell fills our kitchen and ruins it for us. Sorry, we can’t recommend this product.
