I bought this as a lighter duty chainsaw to complement my full time powerhorse. It is lightweight, goes through thicker branches like butter and the power time is quite impressive. To be clear, this is not a primary saw, but it goes days without recharging and helps 2 people take down a large tree much quicker - one works on the main trunk while the other uses this saw to take out branches. If this one fails, I will happily purchase another one!
The chain slips off too easy and the battery does not last very long. If you have a few trees to cut it might suffice but I’m really disappointed in this product.

Hello Richard Carlisle,
Thank your for taking the time to share your experience. While the chain is installed on the bar, it will require to be tensioned and adjusted prior to your first use and frequently while cutting as new chains will stretch out. We would recommend reviewing the tensioning steps as outlined in your instruction manual. Ensure the chain tensioner is tight enough to keep the bar from moving. With the 4.0Ah battery included the unit will be able to cut up to 70 pieces of 4x4 pressure treated wood. If you continue to experience the same concerns, we recommend contacting Greenworks at 1-888-909-6757 or by email on info@greenworkstools.com a Customer Care support can evaluate the chain saw, the chain tensioner assembly, bar, and chain with you. Thanks again and we hope you get this worked out.
I've used the saw a few times around the house and also in the woods where we hunt. It is lightweight and easy to use, the saw speed is acceptable and the chain was ultra sharp. At 24V I was skeptical about torque and it's a bit on the weak side. If you add the slightest pressure to the tool while it's cutting, it will shut the motor down. There is no delay in getting it back on as you just release the power switch and then squeeze and it takes off right away, still, it's a bit annoying. Variable speed would also be a nice feature on this saw. Definitely would recommend but it does have some limitation regarding how lightly you have to use it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hello sr672,
Thank you for your honest and detailed feedback! Our 24V line is ideal for light-duty work. The higher the voltage on a product, the more power you will receive and the heavier job you'll be able to tackle. With a higher voltage does come a higher price point but depending on your workload, it may be necessary. Not only does it make the job easier, but it is safer to use the right tool for the job! Please consider checking out our higher voltage products, we truly do not think you'll be disappointed. If you wish to discuss products with our team directly, do not hesitate to reach out at info@greenworkstools.com or through our helpline at 1-888-909-6757.
Bought one about 3 years ago. Works really good but leaks bar oil like a seve. Always has. Makes a mess even after I try to drain all the oil out. Just keeps getting worse. Used to day and have oil running down legs of jeans. Will not buy another earthwise product. Not very good for environment with oil leaking everywhere.

Hello Mikeht,
Thank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Chain Saw. Due to the gravity-fed auto oiling system, it is normal for unused oil to seep from the saw when not in use. To prevent seepage, we suggest emptying the oil tank after each use than running the unit for one minute. When storing the saw, loosen the cap to avoid pressure being built up in the oil tank which will help with residual oil leaking. To avoid emptying the tank, try only adding the amount of oil that you think will be needed and top it up as necessary during use. However, please note if the unit is leaking while in use, this may not be considered normal. We would be interested in gathering more details regarding this experience so that we can appropriately address your concern. These tools are fantastic! They are light and extremely efficient. I am extremely impressed with the power and torque. I had compared several different companies, but I knew green works was one of the first companies to introduce electric tools. That sealed my decision, and I couldn’t be happier I went with them. These are quality affordable products! I will plan on adding to the collection soon.
