The price for the product is acceptable. The performance of the printer is great and the quality is as well. I'll give a 5 to this product if it could scan and turn the document in PDF.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The printing is terrible! I’ve only printed maybe 20-30 pages and the ink bleeds and the text is blurred.

NOT user friendly, Features archaic

The software: You can get it to do what you need to, most of the time, but if you just want simple printing, scanning and copying, this is not your baby.
Scanning: It's a exercise! Had to set up software for it to scan. That software requires that I load the papers into the printer, then go back to my desk upstairs to then push the scan button, then run back downstairs to retrieve my document. As opposed to being able to scan right from the printer, while I'm standing there and having it send the document to my computer - which is a feature I have on two other scanners from different manufacturers. No up and down the stairs, just run it through grab the document and walk back to my desk.
Copying: Doesn't automatically collate pages, if I'm printing multiple copies of a - say - 10 or so page document. I have to remember to adjust the setting to do that EVERY time because there isn't a default setting for collating; that I have found. Otherwise, there I am laying my 20 page document all over the office and collating by hand, like I had to do in the 80s. What sense does that make? What multi-page document might one print in an office that they don't want the pages collated? If there is a case, it's not the norm in the 35+ years I've been working in offices.
Other than than those basic office needs - if you just want to print documents one at time, and single pages here and there, this printer will probably be fine.

Advise Against this product

DO NOT waste your money! It will print and copy but to get it to scan and sync up with your phone and computer is impossible. It is extremely complicated, and there is zero support from Brother. I have called several times, waited on hold for over 2 hours, did the call back option with no call back. I will NEVER purchase another Brother product again.

Immediate Refund Requested for Faulty Printer
on October 18, 2024
Posted by: BmoreBizConsultants
We purchased this Brother MFC-L8900CDW printer in July 2024 for business use, expecting a reliable, high-quality machine to print our marketing materials. Unfortunately, it has been nothing but a source of frustration. From the very start, this printer has failed to meet even the most basic expectations.
1. Ongoing Technical Issues: The printer consistently fails to complete print jobs. Documents get stuck in the queue, and the only way to resolve it is by repeatedly unplugging the machine. This is highly disruptive to our workflow and completely unacceptable for a business-grade printer.
2. Unacceptable Print Quality: The quality of the prints, especially graphics, photos, and vector images, is terrible. The colors are misaligned, and images look unprofessional—far from the quality we need to create polished marketing materials. We bought this printer specifically to print flyers, but it has proven entirely unsuitable for that purpose. Colors that are supposed to be solid have lines in the print.
3. Toner Usage Misrepresentation: Despite the printer’s poor performance, we’ve gone through 3 yellow and 3 magenta toner cartridges in under 1,800 prints—much lower than Brother’s advertised 1,800-page yield per cartridge. This is a major cost burden and clearly a misrepresentation of the product’s capabilities.
4. Failed Replacement and Support: When we contacted Brother about these issues within the first 10 days, we were sent a replacement printer, but the problems persisted. This demonstrates that the fault lies with the product design, not a one-off defect. Brother has failed to stand by their product, offering no effective solutions despite repeated requests for support.
The Impact on Our Business:
1. Lost Revenue and Increased Costs: The poor print quality of our advertising materials is costing us money. We rely on professional-looking flyers to promote our services, but the output from this printer is so unprofessional that it reflects poorly on our business. This has resulted in missed opportunities and lost customers.
2. Repeated Attempts to Resolve the Issue: We have made several attempts to rectify this problem with Brother over the past three months. Despite this, the issues remain unresolved. The replacement printer didn’t fix the problems, and we are still experiencing the same frustrating malfunctions.
3. Significant Time and Effort Wasted: I personally have spent over 40 hours trying to troubleshoot and fix the print jobs. This has been a huge drain on my time, and instead of focusing on running our business and serving customers, I am stuck dealing with a printer that simply doesn’t work as advertised.
Request for Full Refund and Compensation
In addition to a full refund for the printer, we are also requesting compensation for the significant amount of time and money we have lost due to this defective product. The countless hours spent troubleshooting, along with the lost revenue from failed print jobs and missed business opportunities, have severely impacted our operations. We believe Brother should compensate us for these losses in addition to refunding the full purchase price of the printer.
Our previous printer, which was an older model from a different brand and over 10 years old, delivered professional-quality prints consistently up until the day the CPU needed to be replaced. Switching to Brother has resulted in a significant decline in both print quality and business productivity. Brother’s inability or unwillingness to address these issues has left us with no other option but to demand a FULL REFUND and additional compensation. We have lost immeasurable amounts of clients due to the horrible and unprofessional print quality from this printer.
This printer is simply not the reliable, high-quality product that Brother advertises. We urge Brother to acknowledge this and process both the refund and compensation without delay.

Have from day 1 had trouble with communication between computer and printer. Lost power for about 5 minutes the other day and again now the computer and printer aren't communicating. Why do I have to constantly call. Didn't have this problem with other printers I had in the past. Frustrating to say the least
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
