One Extremely Powerful,Stylish Compact Room Heater

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Velocity 5R space heater has been the perfect space heater for my home office. With the cost of heating fuel skyrocketing, I needed a heater for those cold New England days when working in my office, the Velocity 5R was the ideal solution. The compact size, only a foot high and about 10 inches wide allows it to sit easily in a corner under my table. I have been surprised at its capability to easily heat my 20 ft by 15 ft attic office. It has two speeds, high puts out a lot of heat fast while low maintains a comfortable temperature for the rest of the day. On low, the fan noise is very quiet. Most of the time I don’t even realize it’s on and when on a call, you can’t hear it in the background. The control panel on the top is simple but has all the controls I need, fan speed, temperature and even a timer. It also comes with a small remote that can control all the settings, so I don’t need to get up every time I want to change a setting. I am very impressed with the safety features, when shutting it off, the fan will run for 20 seconds to ensure the heating elements are cooled. It also has a switch on the bottom so that when the unit is lifted or falls over, it automatically shuts off. The overall design is slick and modern looking, adding to its appeal. Overall, I like everything about the Velocity 5R, size, power, look, features, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a room heater.

I don't run my heating system in the winter because I spend most of my time in one room. I purchased the Velocity 5R to heat the room. I have used other heaters to heat the room, but nothing comes close to the efficiency of the Velocity 5R. On high, the room temperature can go up ten degrees in about twenty minutes. In the winter, the room temperature in the morning is around sixty degrees. Before getting out of bed, I use my remote control to turn on the heater. I've never been happier with a heater. And the icing on the cake is it comes with a five-year warranty. I purchased the 3R for my 87-year-old Mom for Christmas. She loves it! You can't go wrong with Vornado products.

Unit Does Not Function As Instructions Indicate

The controls are very difficult to operate, and they don't always do what one would expect. When I called for help, I was instructed to reset the unit by punching a button on the bottom 10 times, an instruction that appears nowhere in the printed material that came with the unit. I was also instructed to shut it off by pulling the plug from the wall socket, which contradicts the instructions, which say the unit needs to cool down before stopping. Since the only way to get it to shut off is to pull the plug, I assume it will wear out sooner than it should. So, while it does warm the room adequately (although not to the temperature indicated on the unit), I'm not happy with it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Noisy

I bought this heater because of the remote control and the timer features, which are nice features. This heater does work well to heat a small room; however, it is very loud. On high speed, it sounds like a box fan that can be heard upstairs when it is on downstairs. On low speed it has a low tone thumping sound. It is too loud to be left on when going to sleep. I own two other Vornado heaters and they can barely be heard, even on high speed. While this heater works, it is too loud to be used as a bedroom heater as I intended.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Mighty Space Heater for Entire Room

This heater has a wide base to provide stability, an embedded handle and the outer shell stays cool to the touch. The control panel is very easy to read and to use. One of my favorite features is that when you power off, the heater continues to run for 20 seconds as it cools itself which is an amazing safety feature.

The size is great and does not take up a lot of room. It was easy to use and just took it out of the box and plugged it in and got right to work. I love that if tipped it turns off.

Amazing for a bedroom!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve recently got this heater and have been using it my bedroom every night since. I live in a colder climate state where it’s often below freezing during fall/winter and I use this to keep the temperature bearable. It keeps the room nice an warm and oftentimes the exact temperature I set it to. The remote is fantastic for changing settings right from the bed. On low it’s now loud at all to fall asleep to aswell.
