Powerful, quiet and great looking

Bought this hood for our new kitchen and it's awesome. We wanted to have a slightly higher installation at 32" above the range vs our old one, which was much lower causing us to bump our head often on the edge. With the higher distance, we were looking for a more powerful hood to ensure the steam and fumes were still being sucked away properly. No problem for the pS18 and, even with the higher CFM, it is still much quieter than our old hood. The hood looks modern and sleak and completes the high end look to our kitchen. The grates are easy to clean in the dishwasher. Overall, an excellent choice and much better than the standards range hoods available everwhere. A very worthwhile upgrade.

Great vent hood

This vent hood looks great and works even better. Replaced a microwave exhaust and makes a world of difference. No longer have strong smell in house. Had a small problem with the unit and customer support was there for a quick resolution. They stand behind their products!

We purchased the Hauslane chef series hood to replace our existing combination microwave/hood unit. We also purchased a new top of the line new gas stove. I did a lot of research to finally decided on the UC-PS18 - 30. It met all of our requirements/meets I had it installed by professionals. They committed on how strong the exhaust fan was after they finished the vent ducting to the outside. And that is what we really wanted.

Marginally better than decade rangehood I had

I replaced my decade old Broan RP100-A in hopes that this new rangehood will be quieter. However at lowest speed UC-PS18 is more noisy then lowest speed of my old rangehood. I measured using phone app (I know it is not perfect measurement) and confirmed that UC-PS18 makes about 68 dba (16 sones) at lowest speed. Old rangehood was less than 10 sones at speed 1. On positive notes, new rangehood does clear out lingering odor much much better even at lowest setting. Noise level goes from high to very high when I go from speed 1 to 6. I was hoping that speed 1 is much more quieter so I can pick the speed I want based on need.

I bought th3 hood online and it arrived quickly, within 3 days. I installed it myself. Just a caveat for those who are thinking of doing that, make sure you have a lift to raise the hood in place. Or have a friend help you out. If you're handy, installation takes no more than an hour, including removal of the old hood & clean-up.
I really like my PS18. I cook and bake big batches and like to experiment with different recipes. With my old hood, I needed to open the windows and door to create cross ventilation... no need for that with the PS18. Just set it to the highest speed and no smell anywhere in the house, no more smells on my clothes. Even works when searing a steak!
Some folks have said it's loud... It has two large fans that move air. Some fan noise is to be expected... just turn up the music :)
