I have had this hood installed for the last couple of months now and just love it! It is very quiet and with its two fans has an amazing power to suck up cooking smoke/smells.Believe it or not??the PS18 30" hood has an infra-red receiver and I noticed that one of my cabinet light remote was able to control the hood operations too!When I called Hauslane's amazing customer service, they said it is sold separately ??so I bought one and made me love the new hood even more!

Nice hood

The hood came with a bent grease trap from handling. Install was ez, would be easier with 2 people. Works and looks great. Edit.... The folks at Hauslane seen that I had received a bent grease trap and sent a new trap and a couple spare lights. Thank you very much. I changed my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Very nice product.

Good hood, flimsy flopper.

Overall seems to be a great range hood. The backdraft damper (flipper, flopper thing as we called it) on the top is very flimsy. When I installed and tested, it was fine but once I sealed everything in, the suction is so powerful it ripped the damper right off and then it fell down and got stuck in a fan. Customer service said that shouldn't happen. Yeah, thanks! But they never offered a solution. I'll have to figure it out later and do without the backdraft protection until I can find the right size and fit.The light has one, and only one, VERY BRIGHT setting. Works for cooking. A bit bright for reflection off the window and TV, but again...not a big issue.Overall, happy with the value for the price.*amended review because the stuff I previously mentioned was user error! Still wish you could hold the fan up or down button and have the settings change, but maybe that's user error as well...

This is a really nice unit and if you have "ALL" the tools or people needed for install it's a breeze to setup. If you don't have all the tools needed it can be slightly more difficult to install but not terribly. The unit came with all the pieces however I would recommend your own roll of metal tape just in case you want to really go to town on sealing different types of vent pipes. I made my own out of a piece of cardboard with their measurements but it would be very nice for them to include a template in order to get the precise mounting positions to pre-drill. They call for a 1 inch hole for the power cord but the plug wouldn't fit so you might want to make it like 1/8th inch larger. Jacks would be the preferred way to install this over your oven but who actually has a set of vent jacks or any other type of jack that has a 27 inch reach. Three people would do the trick as well but sometimes when you want to do the install isn't necessarily when you've got everyone you need. As far as installing the screws make sure you've got them pre-drilled exactly where they need to be and definitely use a drill extension, should be required. Overall, install was very simple and straightforward. The unit works nice, the suction is good and will hold paper towels in place if testing. A little bit on the noisy side but there are two fans. The lights are nice and bright and the controls are easy to use and program. I've used it several times and so far so good. I will update if anything happens over time that is unusual.
