Challenging install is worth the excellent hood

A major improvement from the old OTR microwave. This hood does a great job of capturing and removing the steam and grease from cooking. The white color matches my kitchen and appliances, so looks sleek. My only caveat was that installation was very challenging. It's heavy, so you either need several people to hold and screw in place or a system to hold the hood up while screwing it in. I tried the instructed method with cabinet jacks, and found I could not get those under the center of gravity needed to balance the hood. In the end a stack of heavy boxes did the job. You need quite a long extension bit to reach the back screws and will likely be working by feel for those as you really can't see them, even with the range out of the way. Thankfully, it'll only need to be installed once.

Super quiet, super exhaust, wife is super happy

My PS18 range hood arrived the end of January 2024, in perfect condition. A new roof vent was installed the next day, 6 inch ductwork installed and final hook up the next week. It replaced an over the range microwave that exhausted grease all over the front of the cabinets and wall above.
It is the best investment made for our kitchen. The PS18 is very quiet, even on the highest setting. The second setting above the lowest removes everything for normal cooking. Yesterday my wife baked dinner at 425, and used the front gas burners, with the setting set on the same second speed. The first time in 5 years that the smoke detectors did not go off with the oven at this cooking temperature. The exhaust suction is great. The digital buttons are easy to use. The 2 lights really light up the stove area while cooking, which is super nice.
The 3 minute timer for the exhaust fan, at the end of cooking is perfect for removing left over heat and smoke.
We are very very happy with this purchase.

Have used the hood for about a month now and and so far it's been fantastic. It's very powerful suction takes all the smoke and odor and vents it outside. Sleek looking with excellent lighting too. Would have given it a 5 star but it's somewhat noisy. Not as bad as the old hood it replaced but more than I hoped for. I guess it's a bit of a trade off noise vs suction in which case I'll opt for the suction any day. Good job Huislane
