We had the same range fan that was in the 1980's build house since we bought it in 2002. It really didn't do anything to reduce fumes and the light was not useful. I looked at replacements that were essentially newer versions of the same fan. After doing a fair bit of research, I decided to splurge on the more expensive hood from Hauslane. I couldn't be happier with the decision. It does the job I expected of reducing odor in the house. But what really impressed me was that reduces the grease buildup on cabinets and the hood itself--much more than I thought it would. My only complaint was the the instal video was not all that helpful. No Screwrdriver I could find could screw in the mounting screws. The proposed "alternate" method of marking the location of the "keyholes" and pre drilling and installing the screws did work. There were a few minor adjustments that had to be made before installation. I also installed some EVA rubber strips to improve the fit and reduce vibrations. That would be a nice addition to the install kit. But the exhaust fan itself is great. The light (fortunately or unfortunately) illuminates the stove top well enough to see clearly where spills have occurred. One feature I didn't think would be that useful but really is nice is the shutoff timer. It's handy to push one button as you finish up and walk away to the next task knowing that the fan and light will run for another 3 minutes, then turn off. Hightly recommend the product.
Great vent hood! The controls are easy to use, it is very powerful and looks great in my newly redone kitchen! Delivery was quick and it was a great deal at the sale price.
We love this range hood! I searched for a long time to find a hood that gave us function and style. The Hauslane hood is gorgeous. Very simple, elegant design. Lots of great features. Quiet. Powerful. Makes it feel like we have a designer kitchen.
The fan is outstanding. It was a great choice on our part. We replaced an overhead microwave/fan. The installation was an incredible challenge. Make sure you plan it. Strongly recommend three (3) people or cabinet jacks to line the four (4) screws hanging down from the overhead cabinet. They do NOT provide a template for your screws. Create your own template with some printer paper. Drill tiny holes for the screws to guide into the cabinet. Take off the cover and grills for the fans underneath. Put the screws in only halfway or less. Lining it up takes some grunt work. Make sure those washers are inside the vent (just jiggle like crazy if they get skewed to get them to pop-in). Be patient. Tighten the front ones first. Get a small hand to snake-in and get to the back ones. Like putting lugnuts on a tire on car, alternate going up (screwing). I personally had the screws in the back lower than the front ones before lifting fan into place onto the washers. It was a challenge, but WOW what a fan.
