After reading many online forums regarding thermo-electric humidors, I ordered the NewAir CC-100. The humidor arrived in perfect condition, as well as the cedar drawer and two shelves which had a very pleasing aroma. The humidor itself, though, had a plasticy chemical smell so I used solutions of distilled water and vinegar a few times to remove it. After that, I placed some large Boveda 75s and two Xikar Humistores to season it in addition to using distilled water to lightly moisten the cedar wood. I did not use the included tray to humidify it. Before turning the NewAir CC-100 on for the first time, the instructions state to use a level and adjust the feet so that its stable. Once I plugged it in, I noticed how quiet it is. You can barely hear it at all. The room I placed the unit in currently has an ambient temperature of 69 degrees, and I set the temperature for 67 degrees. The unit's LCD screen reports that it is 65 degrees inside the humidor. Using two previously calibrated HygroSet II digital hygrometers with one at the top and one at the bottom, I've noticed that the temperature will be about 1 to 2 degrees warmer at the top (66-67 degrees) than the bottom, and the humidity is about 3% more at the bottom. Even when I switch the hygrometers, they change to reflect this differential. The analog hygrometer that came already installed in the drawer seems to be accurate +/- 5 degrees. I dont like the temperature and humidity variance between the top and bottom of the unit, and think that this is just a side effect of it being hermetically sealed. After placing a Thermaltake Mobile Fan inside (power cable is flat placed between the door seals), this fixed the problem because it moves the air inside. So as to not dry any of the cigars out, the fan is plugged into a Westek timer which is programmed to turn the fan on for 20 min every 3hrs.
Pros: Attractive, Holds Humidity, Tight Seal

Temp control, swelling, and mold

I purchased this unit to hold ~100 sticks that I previously had in a humidor. The problem with that was temperature control (Florida), so I decided to try this unit to help with that issue. Initially I was pleased but soon found a few problems (a couple of which are now costing me over 20 sticks (and counting) lost to mold and swelling. I have 3 (THREE) calibrated hygrometers in this to make sure I have things set correctly and they are all reading around 68 deg./68% humidty (plus or minus a couple either way on a given day). This is obviously well within the safe range for cigar storage so the mold and swelling problem should not exist. The other problem is temperature control...you can't control it. The only way for me to make it reach down to 70deg was to lower the until temp to 64deg. It is off by at least 4-5 degrees consistently based on several different good thermometers I've used to check it. So my big problem right now is...I want to keep this and get it working, but I can't keep losing $$$$$ on lost cigars due to this thing not performing as a safe storage option. I hope to discuss my issues with Newair and see what we can do, and I'll keep "you" posted. If we figure out what is causing the problems, I will most certainly come back here and revise this review to reflect any changes in status.
Pros: Attractive, Easy to Adjust, Tight Seal
Cons: Humidity Fluctuates, Inaccurate Hygrometer, Insufficient air flow

I absolutely love my NewAir CC-100 Cigar Cooler! It is so much better than traditional humidors within my price range. It's air tight, so it's very low maintenance. The cooling feature lets you choose what temp to age your cigars and you don't have to worry about tobacco beetles ruining your stash! The unit has plenty of Spanish cedar inside. Every time I open it my girlfriend says she loves the smell. I followed the setup instructions with the addition of cleaning the plastic surfaces with baking soda and distilled water. Then I made sure to remove all the residue. I used the provided water tray to season the unit and now I have a gel system (purchased separately) to regulate humidity. It's always spot on! I get a 5% drop when I have the door open for a few minutes, but it's always back shortly after closing it. Currently I have 30 singles of various sizes I purchased as a sampler in the drawer. On the lower shelf I have 2 boxes of small cigars (4.2"x35). I have 90 sticks and still have two shelves unused! If you are into the massive ring gauge you will be able to store close to the advertised amount maybe a little less if you want to have good airflow. After hours and hours of researching my next humidor I'm so glad I chose this one. If you're on the fence just go for it you won't be disappointed! I did look at their bigger model, but I didn't have anywhere to put it right now. When the time is right I will get that one too!

Good Humidor, Poor design

The Unit is perfect for the amount of cigars I own (about 150). I am amazed that the designers did not build in more drawer positions.. This really limits you in how you can manage your collection. It is also impossible to configure any other way than what is shown in the set up. If I had it to do over, I would buy the bigger model.
Pros: Holds Humidity, Tight Seal
Cons: Poor Craftsmanship, Unattractive Design
