1st brother purchase

I was looking for a wireless printer for my home/office. I had purchase a dell v305 and set it up but every time we turned off our pc or laptops , the next time we turned them on we had to set up the wireless connection , not to mention the ink problems.
After looking online and comparing just wireless printers I had almost made up my mind to buy something else when I came across the MFC. It was able to do faxes , which meant that I could get rid of another piece to make room for the new printer.
My main reason for needing a printer is to print invoices, and for my sons school work. We do not print off photos, but do use color charts.
The MFC-J415w took me a few tries to set up on the first laptop, but after I got the frist one set up the other two where a piece of cake.

Just what I wanted

After four of another brand's all-in-one printers, some friends told me to try Brother which has turned out to be vastly superior. The print, copy and scan functions are easy to learn and work very well; the unit seems to use far less ink; and most important, the ink doesn't smear if the paper gets wet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best purchase I've ever made

When I bought my printer I thought I was just buying a printer, something to use every now and then. Well, when I started using it I was amazed. My mom bought an Lexmark and this one blows it out of the water. It's faster at printing and scanning and it has a better picture than any printer that I have ever seen. I love my all in one printer and I wouldn't buy any other product.

I have had an MFC-8860DN model for about 4 years and have been very happy with it. When my 4 year old HP color printer with which I was very happy, died, I decided to change to brother and purchased this model. I'm very sorry I did. The instruction manual goes on and on about its fax capability (which I do not care about) and gives no information about how to set up for scanning and printing photos, which is my primary use of the machine. Then, when I phoned for help, the young Indian lady to whom i spoke was absolutely incompetent. Also, the paper tray has to be removed and re-filled with the particular paper to be used for printing. In the HP printer, there were two parts to the same tray for two didfferent types/sizes of paper. It did not have to be removed from the machine to fill it with replacement paper. One merely directed the machine to print using one or the other size/type of paper. I'll probably go back to an HP multi-function machine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This printer is wonderful. Consumables not expensive and performs excellently. Setup took a little bit longer than a wired printer, but once set up have had no issues. Even with power loss to modem and router, the machine is ready to go again as soon as the power is back on. I would recommend this machine to everybody that needs a good all around printer/scanner/copier/fax.

We had a little snafu at first with our VIoP, but once that was rectified the product works great. I love the fact that it is wireless and I can be at any computer in my home and just hit the print button and it's prints. It is such a time saver. I use the fax function all the time and it is so much easier than my last fax machine. I would recommend this product to everyone, especially those who like a product that has ease of functionality.
