I purchased the HX5 years ago and put it in a S20 sheath for EDC. I have used the flashlight with rechargeable 14500 batteries ever since. The flashlight has enough power to light a trail or see across the street easy. The unit has a quality switch and bulb that has lasted years for every day carry! I since have given these to my son in laws and personal friends. The only way to kill it is to leave in a dead alkaline battery that goes to acid.
I love this flashlight but I hope the switch has been fixed since my last one or just becomes a waste of money.Very handy and light is very bright for my walks into the woods.
I have multiple Coase products and I used the warranty on this one HX5 and the policy was very easy to navigate and they made good and sent one out very quickly. I love the service of this company.
Have owned a few of these for several years now and they work well. Perfect for the glove box of a vehicle. Also have the HX6R, which is awesome, easy to recharge, bright, etc. Why 3 stars for the HX5. Bought 3 more and the packaging is misleading. Ends up the flashlight itself does not have a USB charging port, but the ZX210 optional battery does. So, if you want this flashlight to be rechargeable, you have to remove the special battery and recharge it separately. Packaging makes it seem like the flashlight has the USB port. I MUCH prefer the HX6R version for the convenience of recharging. If you want the HX5, understand that it's essentially just a single AA powered flashlight.
Had the older model for almost ten years. Been through hurricanes and floods with it. Had it so long my knife wore a groove in it where they sat together in my pocket. Eventually lost it and grabbed this model, the clip was gone within a week. Why would you need a clip that just pops off? Loved my old coast light so much I'm sad it's discontinued.
