This light is my everyday carry (edc) I own 3 . One stays on my person 2 in my truck just in case I need to pass some out. (I build tunnels) . The light is bright and and the size is nice in the pocket. After 5 years my edc HX5 failed . I sent one email
to the company and had a great experience with the warranty department , I had a replacement 5 days later . The HX5 value can’t be beat. Lifetime warranty !!!! I recommend this light to everyone.

Switch issues

I received my HX5 as a gift. It worked fine for a week. After that, I could switch it on and off for use, but it would fail to switch on again once turned off. After a few minutes of letting it sit in the off position, it would turn back on when the switch was pushed. Also, when it would not switch back on, if left in the on position for a minute or so, the LED would sometimes eventually pop back on. Not sure what is causing this delay. Unusual and frustrating, especially when you're working in the dark and unable to see. I tried fresh batteries, but have the same issues. I contacted customer service, and they kindly sent me a brand new HX5, which I was very thankful for. Unfortunately, after a few days, the replacement failed in the same way as the original. Coast has a great warranty and customer service. Unfortunately, the product failed me not once, but twice.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worked three weeks

Bought this as EDC to replace Streamlight Stylus Pro. I needed something with just a little more heft and not as easy to fall out in recliner. Great light if it worked. Cannot count on it when I have needed it and with my job it often is backup to larger light when at accident scenes on interstate....cannot get caught without a reliable light when crossing traffic.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Tough, Reliable, and Washing Machine proof!

I have had this flashlight for 3 1/2 years. Been dropped countless times on gravel, concrete, and used daily. Was accidently left in my jeans and washed in the washing machine double rinse, and it came out still working! I call it my "Best buy" of a flashlight. As a 30 year cop this little light is in my pocket daily, including as i type this.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Just one AA and it's surprising how bright it is.
The slide-focus is very useful. Both a near-by utility light and a 25'-65' spot beam and at well over 3 hours of runtime it should last for weeks! And that while I am doing security guard work and use it almost every day.

Second Flashlight that has failed

I bought two of these flashlights for every day carry and use at work. BOTH failed after a couple of months. No warning they just at some point fail to turn on. Fresh battery no use, Direct contact from battery to sidewall ,,,No use. Great size POOR quality/ I will never purchase another Coast product for myself or my work.
