Great flashlight for sure. I zip tied the flashlight to my dogs leash so when he and I are on a walk it points straight at him illuminating the area around him as well as himself. It’s very convenient and with the zoom it’s very useful. Makes it really easy to find his duty and I feel safe because our path is perfectly lit up. The flashlight is also light enough that it doesn’t make the leash sag. The zip tie to the leash is really a good trick for other dog owners to try. Enjoy, Tommy

A great little torch. I use it for everything from walking the dog to finding that lost thing in the back of the cabinet to working on the car. It's bright, compact and takes 1 AA. Brilliant. And if there is ever a problem, the great people at Coast will take care of it, you can count on it.

Great Product and warranty service is just as they promised on their packaging, I highly recommend HX5 mini-flash light, the duration of service from this flashlight is great on just one AA battery design and the illumination and beam adjustment with two settings is very good as well. Buy it you wont regret it

Unreliable, but great features

Immediately out of the box the flash light wouldn't work in mild cold temps, talking summer and fall mornings. It's not the battery. Which is too bad, I like the size and features. I wouldn't be as disappointed by the malfunction if it weren't for the price point.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My wife and I have lived off the grid for nearly forty years. During that time we've gone through a number of flashlights. The HX5 came to us in barter for some work, and we use them quite literally every day, from the time we put on socks in the morning until we turn off our solar-powered LED bedside lamps at night. One is in our pocket at all times to help navigate our way through the less well lit parts of the log house we live in. We like their brightness, their smooth operation, the option to clip it to a ball cap brim. We put them through a lot of use. The HX5, in our household vernacular, is a "journeyman tool," one that knows its job and does it, not some part-timer who might not be there when needed. We are both old enough to remember when companies took real pride in their products, and made them to last. This company's standards are old and honorable: "Make it as though you're going to use it."

I have 4 of these flashlights and they are used more that any other Coast flashlights. The two way clip is invaluable as is the fact that it only takes 1 AA battery. Bright enough for all indoor uses and with the lithium ion battery, good enough for even outside. I have 8 Coast flashlights ranging up to 1400 lumens, and this is the most usefull.
