One of the best flashlights I ever owned, the light it puts out is better and brighter than most larger flashlights, plus you can focus it and see farther objects.
It's small enough that you can always keep it within easy reach and it doesn't get in the way.
It's just the right size.
I have several, I keep them on my car, my coat, my table, etc.
I use mine almost every day.

Just purchased my third HX5. First two eventually had reliability issues like failing to work at all with 1.5v batteries, but at the time I didn't have any 14500 li-ion cells and I wasn't yet aware of Coast's excellent warranty service so I just tested and confirmed that they still worked with a wired 3.7v nominal battery pack and then lost them or threw them away, can't remember. Now that I have lots of nice 14500 li-ion cells that I use for my various LOCA-curing UV torches, I decided to give the HX5 another try. This thing is phenomenal, I think it may be even brighter than my usual pocket-carry PX1s; though the larger PX1 torches still have their advantages such as much less often battery changing, much more common AAA primary cell compatibility, more reliable pocket clip, and reliable fixing of beam adjustment with the screw head as opposed to slide. Anyway, the HX5 does have a very wide beam pattern adjustment range, it's easy to carry a couple extra charged 14500 cells as they fit in common and super portable AA battery cases, and man is this thing B R I G H T for just 75 grams total with battery and clip included. Being able to switch back to 1.5v AA primary cells when necessary and still have a very bright flashlight is a wonderful feature, and the clip that works both ways for belt or hat-bill use is super clever. I'm in love, I will be purchasing a few more now for sure.

The light does everything I want it to do... until it doesn't. I've warrantied the light twice so far but I was told that those may have been part of a bad batch. I'm on number 3 over the course of 2.5 years of constant use on the job. I still really like the light.
This light performs well for its purpose on the job with me and I like how the clip keeps it on my safety vest under all conditions. It's easy to turn on/off and the textured surface helps keep it in your hands.
Hopefully won't have to revisit this site for another retake on the HX5 if this one holds out.

A powerful, durable, versatile flashlight. Compact and easy to carry around. The dual clip that enables you to put the light in the visor of a baseball cap is very useful. It allows the flashlight to double as a headlight.

Been carry the HX5 for a few years now. I really like the 2 way clip and attaches easily and also solidly to a hat brim. Id be lost without this lil light in my pocket.

I carry one of these every day. They've taken a ton of abuse over the years and still work. Best trade off for size/brightness/ battery life of any light I've found.
