Keeps turning off

I'm not sure if it's a low power mode or something, but the printer keeps turning off.
I have to turn it back on manually (no wake over usb mode) and then once it's recognized, it can be used.

Black & Red Sample Cartridge

After spending a couple hours of not being able to print labels using the sample Red/Back cartridge that come with the printer, I switched to one I purchased and worked okay. Have no idea why the sample cartridge didn't work?
