Adequate at best for home use...

The 550 is adequate for my application but I am not at all happy that I am not able to use the inventory of older style labels that I have on hand. My older label printer will no longer work in the Win 11 environment and is no longer supported by the company, so I was forced to buy new and now forced to purchase all new labels that can be read by the 550.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Software and drivers for these models are available on the DYMO website to ensure continued use. If you are encountering issues, we would be happy to assist you in setting them up.
Regarding the DYMO LabelWriter 550, it does use the updated DYMO Connect software, which offers a user experience similar to the previous software. However, the 550 model features an advanced label recognition technology to enhance printing accuracy and efficiency. While this requires the use of compatible labels, it is designed to ensure optimal performance and minimize potential errors.

Unless. Utterly useless. Buy something else!

Had to buy one of these to replace a 450 (which worked) because Demo locked the original software to an older version of Mac OS.
Okay, install the new software. Then find the new software won't drive the old 450 - so you have to buy a 550.
The 550 then refuses to use the old Dymo labels, which don't have an RFID chip. So you now have to buy super-expensive Demo labels.
The new software is awful, lacking the ability to have different fonts in the same text box.
And the new printer drivers don't work properly on a Mac, which means the driver has to be deleted and reinstalled every few days.
It's difficult to put into works how utterly terrible this product is. The old 450 was simple and brilliant. This is an expensive paperweight.
Buy something else instead.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Came in handy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This label printer came in really handed while packing to move. Helped keep all our boxes organized in our storage unit. Having the labels made it easy to unpack and sort the boxes by room.

Not compatible with Dymo Labels

We cannot get the Dymo 550 and 550 Turbo Label Printers to accept Dymo labels. These printers do not recognize the labels on real, not substitute or compatible Dymo labels.

Predatory Design

Say NO to DRM Labels!

Unacceptable practice of moving to DRM labels. My hospital uses custom printer labels and because this printer REQUIRES it to be genuine DYMO paper I'm not able to use it. Terrible business choice. Email me when you guys release this model without the lame money grab.
