Terrible

This is terrible. The only labels that worked are the ones that came with the box. The sensor does not detect the RFID sticker. I even removed it and put it up to the sensor. No dice. Do not buy this machine. It is a blatant cash grab and you will spend more time troubleshooting than printing.

LabelWriter 5 series printers are only compatible with all DYMO Labels manufactured after April 2020. Your labels are compatible with the LabelWriter 5 series if the packaging is blue with two black dots next to the barcode or the packaging is green with a recycle symbol at the front.

If the labels that you are using in the printer are compatible as shown on the images above, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:
Power cycle:
1. Remove the labels from the printer.
2. Unplug both cables from the printer itself.
3. Press on the power button 10 times.
4. Plug the power cable back into the printer and turn the printer on.
5. Insert the labels correctly and press the forward button to see if the printer can feed one blank label.

If the light continues to flash:
1. Remove the labels from the printer.
2. Unplug both cables from the printer itself.
3. If you have the power adapter connected into a power bar or a surge protector, please connect it to an outlet directly.
4. Plug the power cable back into the printer and turn the printer on.
5. Insert a different roll of labels into the printer and feed them through.

Don't waste your money on this printer

Cabinet full of genuine Dymo labels that won't work with this printer. Will be tossing it in the dumpster and digging through the warehouse for an older model that may still work. If I could give it Zero stars that would be more fitting.

All our DYMO Labels manufactured after April 2020 are compatible with the LabelWriter 5 series printer.

To determine if your labels are compatible with the LabelWriter 5 series, please check the packaging or the core of the labels. If the packaging is blue with two black dots next to the barcode or green with the recycling sign at the left bottom corner of the front part of the package, then the labels are compatible. Additionally, if there is a DYMO logo on the core of the labels, they are compatible with the LabelWriter 550.

Unparalleled Joy: Returning 5 Series, A True Trium

h, what a delightful experience it was with the 4 series! So fantastic that I couldn't resist returning all the 5 series. Why, you ask? Well, it's simply because Dymo, in their infinite wisdom, decided to stop making the label size we conveniently use. Isn't that just marvelous? Now, the closest equivalent they offer costs a mere $20 more and gives us a whopping 200 fewer labels per roll. Such a bargain, right? We're talking about hundreds of thousands of labels here, but who needs to worry about that minor inconvenience? Surely, we should all happily embrace this price hike without a second thought. Oh, how I do hope that Dymo changes their stance soon before they face the tragic fate of going out of business. Because, you know, I really adored their products. Absolutely adored them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Major disappointment!

Found out LableWriter 550 accepts only authentic Dymo labels. They listed this as a feature? It should be a warning! I am done with Dymo, as anybody with any common sense should be! Rating should be zero.

You won't be able to use any other lables that the high price ones Dymo charges. Has an RFID chip in the labels that prevents other lables from even being loaded. Honestly makes this label writer dogsht.

The last printers they made worked great but with the new one they make you pay there outrageously priced labels.

550 is an unfortunate racket.

Dymo, what are you thinking? I’m a small business starting up and need to use Dymo for my consigning software. I ordered the 550 and I’m finding out that I cannot use generic labels. Your labels are double to triple the price! Are you kidding me? I can’t afford your label specific racket. Requiring buyers to use Dymo brand labels for business purposes is a manipulative and unfortunate set back.

Predatory Design
