Bought it for my daughter going to give it to her on birthday my only concern is it has no access plug or phone hookup maybe I should have brought flip 4

Underwhelming latency, connectivity & consistency

More robust sound than prior Bluetooth speakers of this size. But plenty of issues remain. 1) Note stereo mode with multiple speakers requires use of Connect+ App, only available for iPhone and Android mobiles (no laptops or alternate mobile options) 2) Runs on dated Bluetooth 4 which often crackles or has gaps in connectivity 3) Significant latency/lag when syncing audio embedded within a video (if playing a music video the sound won’t line up well) 4) Party mode (multiple speakers not in stereo) will drop out occasionally. 5) Customer support online is not quick to reply to emails or offer much.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works poorly with Mac

Flip 5 works fine with an iPhone. The sound is good. But when you connect it to a Mac, problems start. You can't use any other bluetooth device, like a mouse, when the speaker is on and playing. Speaker starts cracking and drops connection. It seems that JBL Flip is using too much bluetooth bandwidth, and there is no setting to reduce it.
If you are going to use Flip 5 with a phone or tablet, it probably works fine. But if you think using it with a laptop too, forget Flip 5, and get an another speaker with an AUX connection. I now wish I did too.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

From your description, it can be caused by how the computer prioritizes the Bluetooth connection, as evidenced by the fact that pairing to your phone is fine. Try pairing it to another Mac or Windows computer to double-check if this is isolated only to that particular computer. If it does appear isolated, then please reach out to the computer manufacturer to properly configure its settings. Great Purchase

I purchased the custom flip 5 speaker as a gift for my son and he loves it! The speaker is easy to connect, sound quality is great, its material is durable and of good quality. The image on the custom speaker is clear. I have purchased another custom speaker for my other son bc he too liked the speaker.
