This is awesome. Expensive but worth it. Our local authority has dropped our rubbish collection to once a month, leading me to find an alternative to the prospect of taking our rubbish to the tip. This is it. A family of 4, recycling everything else, is only filling this compactor once a week, resulting in space in our grey bin at the end of each month. Robust, unobtrusive and very elegant (it is JJ after all!!!!) it is also a beautiful thing to look at too without taking up too much room in the kitchen. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend (and have already done so.)
The title may be a quote from The Merchant of Venice, but I can see us using this Trash Compactor, until the wrinkles come. This is a good thing.
The package description, like always, fits exactly what you get. The foot at the bottom lifts the lid, which makes disposing of your rubbish easier and less messy. When the bin is getting full, you can use the handle at the top, to manually compact (compress) the contents. Thus, giving you more room in the bin and meaning you reduce the amount of times it needs emptying.
It looks simple and like most rubbish bins, but because it compacts everything, it holds far more than it first appears. We think it's value for money and does what is expected of it. The rubbish bags it requires are robust and fit for purpose.
Overall, we would recommend this. It is good quality and simple to use. The only thing that may be an issue is, some people may find it difficult to use the compacting function, because it relies on the user, being able to reach right inside the bin, pushing the compacting mechanism to the very base and up again.
People with certain disabilities such as myself, might find this an awkward function. However, it's why I got married ;) Besides, this is nothing major to us, which is why it gets 5 stars.
If I could give them a zero I would I got a trash can that is not in perfect working order tried to return it they told me they could send me parts so I could rebuild it instead so now I am stuck with a piece of junk barrel cuz it's not even a working trash can
