metal vs nylon - winner metal

After 3 hrs of use, the whining started and no more
could be processed thru the shredder. Took the unit apart
to see what was stuck, only to find that the overheat
fan blade had a metal worm gear that wore down the nylon
gear move the some of the other working parts.

Please note that this shredder has a usage rating of 100-150 passes per day. This means that the user may pass acceptable product through the cutters up to 150 times per day maximum. Usage beyond this maximum on a regular basis may cause damage to the unit. We are not certain how the unit is being used on a regular basis, but we thought we would mention this as a matter of education.
Since you have determined what the issue is, please contact our customer service department so they may further assist you regarding your unit. Please have the serial number of the unit available when you call.
The serial number of your unit is located on a white label adhered to the head of your shredder. Typically it will start with the model number of your shredder and is under the bar code. It includes all the letters and numbers from left to right. Please call the Consumer Help Line at 1.800.945.4545, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. CST. We would appreciate the opportunity to further assist you.

Started using the product right after getting it unpacked and worked great! A lot better than the one it was replacing for sure!

I am really happy with our new shredder. Works very well, spacewise as we are very short on space. Very easy to use, and quiet. I do feel that there should have been better directions as to set up, where the little box attaches etc.

Great Shredder but...

Heavy mechanics should be made in separate piece and boxed separately or inside refuse container. I ordered three of these and each came in damaged. Box is large and bulky. Packing is part of engineering the product. Needs to be resolved.

A Good Replacement

For my 2 person office, we purchased the Fellows 125Ci as a replacement for a smaller shredder. Before we had the Fellows Shredder out of the box we could see it was a nice machine. It was easy to set up, came with bags and oil that we were not expecting. With the first use we were impressed at the height of the machine, at the speed and how quiet it was. We quickly emptied of box of papers that had been waiting the arrival of the new shredder. With this new shredder, we vowed to not allow our shredding to get backed up again. Only down fall, the shred cut was not as fine as I was expecting.
Pros: Quiet Operation, Safety Features, Sheet Capacity, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs
Cons: Jam Resistance, Secure Cut Size
